In terms of lyrics:

Aerosmith - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing

In terms of the style (I think it was something never seen before)

Erm...

Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
Vaughan Williams - Symphony No. 5 - Movement III [Romanza]

...are the two that strike me as brilliantly written songs.

That was a joke It's great how he describes certain things in it, though.

I'd say Bob Dylan's 'Hurricane' is the best written song I've ever listened too.

Not necessarily my favorite songs, but I think they are lyrically some of the best ever:

Hotel California the Eagles
Dont Speak No Doubt
Natural Mystic Bob Marley
Comfortably Numb Pink Floyd
Juicy The Notorious Big
Losing my religion REM
Stairway to Heaven Led Zeppelin
Bohemian Rhapsody Queen
At Last Etta james
Sweet Child o mine Guns and Roses

Oh boy, I can go on forever, but top 10 is enough. LOL

I love that song, It's immense.
