Default Are you on the donor register or do you have intentions?

Thread title is on about organ donation for those who aren't clear

Your brain doesn't go anywhere

I ticked the box when I got my provisional as well but I don't like the idea of being gutted, but meh I won't know about it so ...

I didn't know you had to be on a register! Maybe it's different here. I do have an organ donor card though.

I have been on the donar list for a year and a bit now.

I will only donate my liver, kidneys, heart and lungs though. Not having my eyes or skin taken away from me.

The idea of someone walking around with my organs kinda freaks me out.

Call me selfish but when i die i want to be buried in one piece. not parts of me scattered about and put in other ppl.

I have been registered as an organ donor for many years. I did have issues with people not having a huge choice about being on the register though and having to ask to be removed from it rather than ask to go on it.

yeah but you could be saving someones life or several peoples lives. What if you or a fmaily member need an organ transplant one day?
Im not trying to say everyone should be on the register but when you look at it that way it seems worthwhile, even if it does mean your going to be cut open and messed about with

I'd like to be, when I die all of my organs are going to go to waste anyway, might as well let other people have use of them (assuming they're of use, haha)

If say like my dad needed a kidney or somthing then sure i would do it cos i got two of them lol and i dont need them both. and i know my dad would be properly greatful for it.

But i would be less enthusastic to help a stranger out. and if i ever needed a transplant im seriously not sure how i would handle it. I might just reject the idea completly. im not scared of dying cos it happens to us all in the end. but the idea of me having someone elses organ inside me. just doesnt feel right to me.

But No, i would never consider putting my name down.

I must see what some of you look like.

I don't buy anything until I see what I'm purchasing. It must be Grade-A!

The question is, if you are a registered donor, will medics be less inclined to recusitate you, if they know they can harvest bits of you for some wealthy client?

What exactly are the safeguards here?

Yes Im a donor.

They can have everything except my eyes...even though Il be dead, the thought of someone removing my eyes is just horrendous...I just cant bring myself to allow it, I would be constantly creeped out until I did die..

No, and I don't plan to be either. I agree with reasons of other people wanting to give their organs away but I'd like every bit of my body to be buried together.
