E4 showed some of BB USA last year - it would be good if they showed the present show this year. Then we could compare the two BB's. British and USA. Otherwise where is it possible to watch the BB USA?

We have the same problem with BBUK.. I have to download it everyday and then transfer it to my TiVo.

They're completely different shows. BBUK focuses more on the interpersonal relationships, while BBUSA is far more strategy oriented.



Some of the differences in the USA version, for those who don't watch it..

-HM's can talk about nominations/evictions, in fact this is critical (alliances).

-Two people are nominated for eviction by a HM who wins head of household (HoH), determined by a competition. That HM is immune from nomination/eviction.

-The public does not vote. HMs are evicted by the voting of their other HM's.

-There is no "Big Brother" who speaks or interacts. All house interaction is done by Julie, the host.

-Another HM can win power of veto (PoV) who can save one person from nomination, and the player who holds PoV is also immune from eviction.

-America's Player - A HM is voted to be America's Player and receives weekly challenges from the public. If those challenges are completed successfully, AP wins "something", either for the house of for themselves.


There are a few other differences as well, but as you can see, it's a very different show.

So on the USA version, apart from the weekly challenges from the public, the public are actually not involved? I think I would find that hard to stomach as with BB in UK it is very public and we get to say who we like or dislike. Do you have live audiences when someone is evicted from the house and does that evicted HM get to hear (or know) how the public feel about him or her?

Apparently, as FE mentioned, there is no America's Player this year, so unless there's a new twist this year, there is no public interaction. Nominations are done by the HM who is Head of Household, the HM with Power of Veto can save one HM who has been nominated, and then the HM's vote to evict.

There's no public eviction / live audience either, the housemates walk onto the external TV set and are interviewed by Julie, the host.

BBUSA is not nearly as popular of a program as BBUK.

For their opening nights, BBUK 10 got 2.8MM viewers, and BBUSA had 6.7MM viewers. With the population differences, that's about 4.5% of UK vs 0.9% in the US.

I should also add, BBUSA only airs three times a week on CBS. Though I think there might be a live feed (at least there used to be) on one of our premium channels that is an additional cost.

Oh, I agree. I didn't mean to imply that it's failing as a TV show, just that in the UK people are much more into the show. BBUSA doesn't make headlines or articles in print or online news sites like it does in the UK. It is doing a good job of ratings for CBS.

Thanks! I never got into BBUSA enough to try and watch the live feeds, but I knew there was some sort of TV-based live feed.

I am also pretty sure there has been a studio audience. They are just not the screaming mob that you see on BBUK. They are a "studio audience" like you would see on any show.

yeah they have an audience who clap and face the way of the camera as the houseguests leave and walk down the stairs.

One reason why the audiences are different also is in the U.S. the HM'S leave the house and pretty much are never heard from again outside of other BB broadcasts. They arent considered stars and really dont recieve too much special treatment once the show is over. I think Siavash was saying in the UK they can get in to clubs easier and are recognized in public and they can also get endorsment deals. We have too many reality shows in the US its hard to keep track of who's on what show sometimes.
