It's another celebrity hoax.

A spokesperson for ABC just confirmed to me that former "Scrubs" star Zach Braff is not dead, as was reported on Twitter this afternoon. A tweet today linked to a fake CNN.com page that said Braff had died of an apparent suicide. The Northwestern grad's name quickly became a trending topic on the site.

He's alive, the ABC rep wrote in an email. Thank God. It's just another hoax. People, always doubt what you read on social networking sites, unless it links to a confirmed news site.

As someone tweeted, "Who the [bleep] thinks it's funny to make up a story like that?"

I remember last year there was a rumor going around that Bernie Mac had died. Turns out that it was a hoax. Funny thing is, exactly a week later he died suddenly at a hospital.
