Jungle bosses are keen to sign up US dancing pro Derek Hough, 26, and Argentinian model Leandro Penna, 26, in the hope they will spill the beans on their doomed romances.

Execs have put the two hunks at the top of the wish list believing they would be a massive ratings winner for the show due to their links with national sweetheart Cheryl, 28, and reality show queen Katie, also known as Jordan, 33.

Our jungle insider said: “In theory Cheryl and Katie would be at the top of the wish list but, seeing as they are not an option, their ex-boyfriends have become the next best thing.

“Producers know it would be a massive scoop to get Derek or Leandro to talk about Cheryl or Katie. Even if they don’t talk, execs are still confident the two sex symbols would both prove hugely popular.

“They are both young, good-looking and would be a huge hit with female fans.“Either way, neither Cheryl nor Katie will be happy about seeing their ex-lovers on the reality show. It doesn’t really matter if they spill the beans or not – just the prospect of them dishing the dirt would be a massive pull for fans.”

One major stumbling block for jungle bosses is that Derek is currently performing on US show Dancing With The Stars.

And if he goes all the way to the final, he could be committed to their version of Strictly until the end of November – which would be halfway through the run of I’m A Celebrity.

Bosses were also concerned about Leandro’s lack of English but decided his poor communication skills could in fact make for excellent viewing.

Our insider added: “One option is to put Derek in the jungle halfway through the show. Although the line-up is coming along producers are still worried they don’t yet have enough star contestants to bring in the viewers and they are confident that Derek could be that person.”

Other celebrities in the mix include ex-footie hero Lee Sharpe, former US teen singer Aaron Carter, pop babes Samantha Mumba, Shola Ama and Diana Vickers, veteran Olympic champions Daley Thompson and Fatima Whitbread and Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith.
