Glamour model Imogen Thomas today lost her High Court bid to lift the gag on her alleged affair with married premiership footballer Ryan Giggs.

The 28-year-old reality star was refused permission to make a statement to the court about her relationship with the Manchester United midfielder - named at the hearing only as CTB.

The former Big Brother contestant is accused of attempting to blackmail the player out of £100,000 for her silence following an affair.

After considering the evidence Mr Justice David Eady today dismissed her application to be allowed to make a statement about the case in open court.

His judgement was handed down behind closed doors at a brief hearing attended by Miss Thomas, who smiled but said nothing as she emerged from court.

Her solicitor David Price QC said she was refused permission to make a statement in court.

The case now goes to a full trial next March.

Imogen Thomas knows that wherever she goes, cameras follow.

So she wasn't about to let a small thing like a neck injury keep her tucked up in bed.

The Welsh model was spotted wearing a neck brace as she half-heartedly attempted her Christmas shopping.

She was seen struggling to hold on to a newly-purchased vacuum cleaner, a bag of groceries and wrapping paper as she walked home to her London flat.

Earlier, she snacked on grapes at the supermarket.

Her trolley was full of festive treats including wine and crisps.

The 29-year-old has complained of neck pain over the past few days on Twitter but has given no indication of what happened.

She complained: 'What shall I do about my neck? I can't move one side :-( will a massage make it worse? #pain.'

She later added: 'My neck is in bits! Back on the sofa! Deep heat and lavender heated cushion! Wanna cry! #pain.'

Is it because her bust is too big and droopy ?

Manchester United star Ryan Giggs has accepted there was no basis for accusing TV presenter Imogen Thomas of blackmail, the High Court has heard.

She took legal action after the Sun accused her of having an affair with a footballer - later named as Mr Giggs - which led him to seek an injunction.

The legal order, which prevented the publication of his name, was granted on the basis that Ms Thomas, 28, appeared to be trying to blackmail him.

Ms Thomas said she had been vindicated.

In a statement read outside the court in London on Thursday, the 2003 Miss Wales and former Big Brother contestant said: "To suddenly have to defend my character because of this legal process has been extremely upsetting and stressful.

"I'm just relieved that the parties and the court now accept that I'm no blackmailer. I have been vindicated and that's all I wanted.

"I have nothing to add - it's all behind me now."

The High Court heard that in the witness statement supporting Mr Giggs's injunction application, he had said Ms Thomas's conduct had led him to suspect she was thinking of selling her story to the press.

The former Welsh international was the subject of fevered press speculation about his identity

"He also said that she had asked him for money to assist in the purchase of a flat and that he had become suspicious about her motivation," Ms Thomas's advocate, David Price QC, said.

He added: "Notwithstanding these qualifications in the judgement, the allegation of blackmail was widely and prominently reported by the media as if it were established fact.

"This was not correct. It has been extremely damaging and distressing to Ms Thomas."

Mr Price also said the Sun had now made it clear Ms Thomas had not been responsible for the article in April.

Good for Imo - Giggs should have taken the rap a lot earlier, instead of making a lot of people suffer .....

I really have no time for this woman but I'm glad to read this...... Giggs needs brought down a peg or two - and if it is via a scutter of a woman such as Imogen - then so be it.
