Default Can we have an 18+ section please.

Hi,

As you know I'm just a simple honest young man that likes to come on and discuss topics of the day and what have you with honest, salt of the earth fellas. Recently there has been an influx of heavily sexualised threads which has somewhat hampered my Tibb experience. Now I'm not one to complain about these things but I'm just a simple young rural boy brought up in a devoutly Christian household and I fear that, having recently discussed this with my priest Father Declan, it's possible I may now go be going to Hell for bearing witness to these terrifying subjects of debauchery and Paganism.

Now I was kinda banking on getting to play bridge with the big man himself when my time came but yet I don't want to see the heathen's without their trusty sex torture threads. Maybe a sub section for these threads away from the precious eyes of my brethren and I would be a suitable medium?

Thanks In advance, and God bless y'all!

Think this has already been asked for and dismissed numerous times (I know you wouldn't know that), and it's always only a couple of people that ever feel the need for it. There is a 18+ social group though.

This had been requested and discussed so much before.

We won't be adding an 18+ section to the forum, there isn't any real need for that kind of section on here and there is no fair way of moderating who gets access since there's no way of proving for definite what a member's age is, it could possibly split the forum up into age orientated groups/cliques and also be pretty unfair on the younger members.

This is why the 18+ social group was created.

I do agree with you about the influx of sexual threads lately though, I see no need for them really on a BB forum where we have members as young as 13 amongst us, in fact some of the threads make me feel a tad uncomfortable and I am far from prudish but some must feel the need to discuss those sort of things so I would say just don't read the threads

I might actually start removing the more graphic threads actually.

Was my story not convincing enough?

I knew I should have gone with the "four year old cousin read Tibb and asked me what a dildo was" angle

Sheriff, I have failed you.

I wouldn't be against it but I don't see the issue with certain posts and threads made on here anyway. Yes there's 13+ members but um...they probably understand almost everything that's being said in them, I know I did when I signed up to this forum. They aren't eight, they're thirteen...I don't see the big issue to be honest.

Well it's a big issue to some members Jack, a few have commented about feeling uncomfortable lately with some of the conversations that have been going on, I'm not saying that no one should mention sex on the forum that would be ridiculous but theres a place for graphic sexual discussion and it's not on a bb forum with members as young as 13 years old, and it doesn't matter how or what they know I still don't think their parents would be happy to find out they had been involved in sexual discussions online with people sometimes more than double their age.

Well my answer to those that are uncomfortable with such threads would be...don't open them, and those who create them should place a graphic content warning in the title just to be fair. But I guess that's a more acceptable and understandable reason to ban them than age - which is definitely not. I don't think any 13 year olds on here have been 'involved' in any sexual discussions, probably just read them...and if you went into any Year 8/Year 9 class in a high school in anywhere across the UK you would hear much, much worse conversations than are being had on this forum, believe me. 13 year olds aren't stupid, or innocent.

Also, if parents are really that concerned at that age - then they should be monitoring their online activity and actually should be wondering why they want to be talking to a load of 20/30 year olds on a forum anyway. It isn't this forums job to parent a load of under 16's.

Well then you clearly don't have a clue about half the stuff that goes on here.

If a parent asks a kid under 16 what they are doing and they say browsing/posting on a BB forum then I doubt very much that parent will automatically assume that anything else other than BB gets discussed on here, so no it isn't a forums job no one implied it is, that still doesn't change the fact that most responsible parents wouldn't be happy having their young child discuss sex with adults online.

And please don't preach to me about what 13 year olds know and discuss, I was that age too but discussing things at school or with friends is completely different circumstances.

It also works both ways, I can pretty much guarantee that most parents on here don't feel comfortable seeing members that are similar aged to their children have these types of discussions.

So my answer to people that feel the need to post or read OTT sexual threads would be to go find a more suitable website or forum.

I haven't said I was uncomfortable with anything, I think I'm the only 13 year old on this forum IIRC

I wasn't referring to a specific age Cuda, just replying to Jacks part about 13 year olds.

Even so like I said above just because you don't feel uncomfortable doesn't mean others feel the same way.

Your the only 13 year old that's come forward to my knowledge. Most people you can only really guess their age range and even then you could be off. I'm 25 and I'd be mortified if I was in one of these threads discussing openly risque things to find out certain contributors were 13,14 or 15.

Why are you being rude? I wasn't to you

I can only think of a handful of under 16 members anyway, so I'd need to be shown some examples of this underage sexual discussion happening...not that there is anything wrong with that anyway...people under 16 are allowed to discuss and think about sex (though I do see the issue with people over 18 feeling uncomfortable discussing it with them, that I do understand - but then isn't that why an over 18 section has been suggested in the past anyway?).

They aren't different circumstances at all. My original point was that there's been no discussions on here that the large majority of 13 year olds wouldn't understand, in which case banning them to 'protect their innocence' or whatever is an unnecessary reason, it changes nothing.

As for the parents asking what they're doing online and not assuming there'd be sexual discussions on a Big Brother forum...I really, really don't think that should be the top of their priorities, considering there is actual depictions of sex available for them to watch quite freely, which they probably are watching (not that I think there's anything wrong with that either but that's a separate discussion altogether), so this issue pales into insignificance in that respect anyway.

I'm not really bothered on this issue either way, the main reason I posted in the first place was because I objected to the idea that they should be banned because of the 13 year olds on here.
