I can understand it because he wants his loved one to know he is okay so I don't see any harm in their code. He is just letting her know how he feels without sounding stupid if he did it in the camera room. It is not like he is getting any infomation back so he has 1 up on the rest.

I don't see the problem - but it's clearly against the rules and they should abide by the rules, even if they don't agree with them. You have to remember, at the end of the day they put themselves in the situation to be rules by ITV producers, so they should live by their rules.
