Here are some modifications of the BB8 eye I have done - the first to make it similar to my own fan made eye, the third just on a whim

I might do theme themed around previous eyes, i.e. a yellow and black one like BB7.

My rankings:
1st place - Eye 2
2nd place - Eye 3
3rd place - Eye 1

I don't think eye 1 blends well together, seeing as there are two patterns. I love eye 2, though

Yeah , i love the third too, very good, better than the original, i think the original has too many shades of black and grey included. In the first one theres a bit too much going on

I think Daniel Eatock has let himself down badly this year, what was he thinking when he designed that eye. I think he should have designed an eye similar to Big Brother 6.
