Weird. You think any authoritarian regime just start up with the worst of humanity on display? That's not how it works, and I'd hope you would have known that already.

They all start off as collectivist patriotism movements.

Stalin didn't come to power telling everyone he was going to starve them all, and Hitler didn't come to power by being honest, either.

There are some very worrying signals in the west and especially the UK at the present time, such as the willingness to break the law, the removal of oversight and scrutiny, the attacks on the legal profession, the cronyism. All key indicators that all is not well with a democracy.
