Obviously anyone with half a brain knows that using this language as a white person isn’t appropriate… but… is it just this? Is there further evidence of him being actually racist? Because while using the word is dumb and he obviously needs it explained to him why it isn’t ok - I can’t see any racist intent there.

I don’t disagree, I’m not even arguing that he shouldn’t be disqualified from the show for it, it’s a stupid and offensive thing to say and I can see how it can be deemed a racially insensitive thing to do. I think declaring someone “a racist full stop” for using it in this way is a bit of a stretch. Dumb and ignorant yes, racist . Can’t really say either way.

That is not a good thing to admit , no matter how angry you get in situations. You can have tantrums without saying racist words.

But if an oversimplification really… it’s more that, when young people hear a word being used frequently in pop culture, it’s somewhat understandable if they’re too young/naive to understand why it isn’t appropriate for everyone to use the same word in the same context.

Again I’m not saying that I personally don’t understand it, or the reasons, or saying it should be ok… but I think understanding the politics, nuances and history of it is probably a lot to expect of people who probably left school 3 years ago, with 2 GCSE’s and a pat on the back.

A perfect way to eradicate racism then would be to let all the older generations die suddenly and allow the youth to build a better world together without any in built prejudice..
