It's probably not my absolute favourite death scene ever, but I want to call attention to a a great moment in The Long Goodbye (1973) where Sterling Hayden simply walks into the ocean and lets the tide take him away.

I've always thought that was a weirdly romantic and especially haunting depiction of suicide.
