Default Are you happy with your body?

Today's society is more focused than ever on vanity, glamour and unattainable beauty. You're bombarded constantly with the pressure from such high expectations that it's inevitable that you question your own appearance to the extent of wanting to change it just so it resides within the media's personal definition of what is attractive.

So, the lead in question:

Are you happy with your body (including face)?

Is there any part of you that you're particularly happy with?
Is there any part of you that you're particularly unhappy with and would like to change?

_______________

For me, there's a lot of things. My biggest issue, apart from my honk of a nose which I can't do anything about naturally, is my weed like frame, which I'm just going to spend the summer trying to bulk up. Not insane bulking up, just start to add some definition.

I'm quite happy, but I hate my hair, my face and my nose.

I'm pretty happy with my body though, I wanted to be massive (muscly) at one point but then I didn't want it to take over my life, and I realised big was gross. I'm quite active though (do boxing and stuff like that) and supposedly I'm mesomorphic so I don't really have to do much which is quite good.

My nose pisses me off though. I used to walk into lamp posts when I was little so I've got a bump in it now . I plan on getting it took out at some point ...

Tom - I am glad you realised big muscles are gross! Eurk they look so sick.

Personally, no - I am unhappy with my body. But I am in control of it, so I have to only blame myself for my unhappiness. I'm not largely unhappy though, just would rather it were a nicer figure.

Quite happy with my face etc.
Don't really like my hair cos it's goes frizzy but it's ok.

This is a really good thread Rocko, should dispell a few myths for people at an age where they may, (if trusting the media) be getting overly concerned with what is normal, and non better to get normal people to answer it.

I've always loved my body , as I've always considered it my parents best gift to me so Ive respected it as best I can like any other gift they have given me. I consider it perfect for me and thats not being selfish, but just a matter of fact.
I worry about losing my right breast soon due to inevitable surgery, and like any woman will feel an important feature to my gender has been lost.
However this only makes me more determined to compensate somewhere else, like my face and a ive made a vow that I'll always be smiling more after this opp, as a happy face is ALWAYS a prety one.

I appreciate I won't win Miss World or would ever have come close but I truly believe real beaty is found when you look at yourself with a good positive attitude and a happy charector.
So even if that fails to impress people at least there will be, always one whos got it right as far as looks go, yourself.
The only thing I'd like to change is now beyong changing sadly, but its a great opportunity for me to get a happier and pretier face out of it all

I am not and I suppose never have been happy with my body. When I was younger I was very slim, then I had 2 children and put a lot of weight on. After a few years of yo-yo dieting which is made all the harder by the medication I take I finally got my figure back to where I was almost satisfied. NOW though I hate my chest which has shrank after 2 kids and isnt as full as it used to be. I also had that little baby pouch as I call it that never seems to quite tone back to how it used to. I have to work so hard to maintain my current weight that I often wonder if it is worth it!

I suppose my best feature is my eyes and I have a nice mouth, they are my favourite features on my face. I dislike the scarring I have around my right eye from a nasty dog bite when I was younger, it doesnt spoil my actual eyes, just to the side of it.

I worry about the obsessive society we live in as I know I am as much a part of it as anyone else. I worry about what I eat and worry about what my family eats. I worry about the effect it has on my body long term.

No, I hate my nose, my body and my bum.

The only part of my body that I really like is my legs and feet.

I need to tone up alot in the Summer.

Meh I dont hate it... I dont love it. Im quite self conscious about it I dont walk around without a top or anything. I wish my chest wasnt so hairy, but hey... some women love that lol. I could lose a couple of pounds and get rid of the beer belly but im just too lazy

I used to be alot bigger when i was younger so im not gonna complain about my size, i think im a very good healthy size.

I don't know anyone whose completely happy with how they look physically. I hate my height, I don't think I'm short (5'7) but everyone around me is 6'0 and they got those long legs and torso. It sucks I'm not growing anymore and theres not even an option of plastic surgery (not that I would do it)

I'm the happiest I've been in a few years but there's still room for improvement with my body. I had some extra baggage and lost some, but started on the weights before I'd lost as much as I'd have wanted to, so although I'm not flabby, I could have done/do with losing a stone or so. I'm pretty happy with my stomach, there's no flab on that but my chest could do with toning up a bit.

As for my face, I'm pretty happy with it, providing I don't put on weight then I'm happy with my face. There's no features like my nose etc that are odd or I dislike. I had really massive, pointy ears which I hated but I got them pinned back as I hated them so much, under the knife at age 10. I'd happily get plastic surgery if there was something that later in life I wanted to change about my face though.

My hair though, I hate it, it doesn't grow like a normal head of hair. It grows in such a wierd way that I'm not willing to leave it more than 2 weeks untill I get it cut again, it's horrible.

I'm not that happy with my body at all, I'm low in confidence and self esteem and I'm so conscious about how I look when I go out, I guess there's nothing wrong with that I take pride in how I look but I'm always self conscious with what people think of my appearance.
I'm not fat at all and if I were I would feel even more bad about myself, Im just not happy with my body generally there's nothing I like about myself at all, the thing I hate the most is problem my skin, at the moment its completely clear but when I just have the odd spot or two I will try and prevent from going into school because I don't want people to see my skin bad.

My metablolism is incredible, I can eat all day and stay stick thin...sounds good?

Its hell... its made me incredibly weak.

As for my face. lol.

But in general, I am who I am, I don't want someone to date me for my looks anyways.

Nope. I have however, lost a stone since May 22nd. Im one of these people who everyone says 'omggg you dont need to diet' but I know myself that I really do.

Like a lot of people, I hate my hair LOL. I can't get it right cos of the size of my head. Its massive.

I'm nearly in the 9 stone boundries however, and ALMOST happy.

Um no i'm actually quite confident in myself for a 14 year old lol, i love my hair and my eyes, i have spots and i hate them but at least i know they'll go, in time. I don't mind the shape of my legs, they have hairs but i just wear tights and i personally don't think i have OMG SHE'S SO GORGEOUS kind of looks but i could definately be worse lol

I'm a little on the small side and i wouldn't mind looking older than i am but these are all things that make me me, so i don't mind having them.

Yes, I'm happy. I'm healthy, relatively fit and my body works just fine. I've seen enough people with debilitating illnesses to be thankful for what I've got.

I'm happy with my body but I'm extremely self concious?

I won't go out unless I feel I'm looking good and I've been known to take over an hour to get ready [I'm male].
I used to not leave the house without eyeliner which my boyfriend's put a stop to [thankfully]
&I get frustrated if I can't get my hair to go right [naturally straight, just sometimes doesn't style how I want it] and I go crazy if a few strands fall out of place and stuff.

I'm not vain, I don't think I'm good looking at all but I wanna look my best?
My boyfriend reckons I have nothing to be self-conscious about but he would say that.
It's got better recently though.

I have the same problem with the over active metabolism. Not tried weight gain powder, just things the doctor recommended, increasing calorie intake (duh) lots of bananas, meat, milk.

At times, I like the slinky 'figure' but then I see people like Stu on TV and I'm like...yeah you could work on not being able to fit in girls clothes anymore.

Yes, I must just have a high metabolism. I did try some of that when I was about 18- didn't really work and it tasted awful! Think I'll just always be thin, so now I just accept it.
