It says that I have an unread U2U 24/7 but I don't
 I can't get rid of it, and it keeps on making me think I have a new U2U when actually it's just that...

Make sure you have checked your U2U history again to see if any are labelled 'not read'.
if it is still a problem then you can change the pop-up message for U2U's in the control panel |

I had the same thing but 9 messages instead of 1. Scroll down until the bottom and you'll probably see 1 unread message.
