Bad, very bad.
But, after launch night it went well down, but people must have spread the word about this year being good, week 6 it raised back up, with helf of it being newcomers week. |

I agree. The finals 3.4m is only about 400,000 down CBB6's final official rating. |

Pretty bad tbh.
But it was Launch Night that did it. It wasn't a traditional launch so people got bored, the housemates started going in too early because of no house tour (they should've opened up the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom at least and then locked it before the HM's went in), and the twist wasn't really explained a lot. Plus they could've advertised something about it in the ad campaign, hoepfully pulling in more viewers, but they didn't. I know a lot of people that watched a bit of launch but got bored and so just switched off. If it wasn't launch, it was the Sunday eviction show which was a total fail. Even as a loyal fan I felt watching for 100 minutes only to find out it was a normal eviction with no twist whatsoever was stupid. So yeah, not a great start is pretty much to blame for the low ratings. |

Mainstream primetime television hmmm 3-4 million does not sound good. However the show was still C4's highest rated show.

Well they dont know about everyone, some people have BARB boxes connected to there television/sky etc which registers what they watch. They work out by maths I guess the proportion of how many people that having the boxes to the rest of the country. Apperently the UK have the most precise way of taking ratings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadca...Research_Board |

Thank you ricky, it seems very random to me. And 5,100 homes is a very small amount. I'm not sure I believe this ratings stuff.

For me the story starts with BB9's ratings drop. BB9 was superbly produced and done right from beginning to end,
yet, It saw a big drop in overall viewers. That tells you it is not just a case of a poorly produced 'one-off' season but a real loss for the concept itself. BB10 was a train wreck. It started wrong and stayed wrong and while Sree and Bea did everything possible to save the season it still wasn't enough to redeem the sloppy mess of it, yet, it really does look like those numbers just kept dropping off at the same rate anyways. You cannot blame C4 when you see this. It is not like they are holding on to some 'secret weapon' of all new twists and an improved formula and new house etc. They can rightfully expect the same drop no matter what. *one hope is that a BB All-Stars and just the fact it will be the 'last hurrah' will pull in some sort of decent figures. Funny how everything is relevant though... almost nobody ever gets 3 million viewers for anything these days. Those are massive numbers, yet, compared to this time-slot and compared to what 'hypothetical new program' could be there instead we say these are 'disappointing' numbers heh |
