Missing You Already [Press Story]
Quote:
Missing You Already
Derek has been giving his thoughts on Housemates past and present in the Diary Room, with his usual frankness, and admitted he was already missing Kemal.
In fact, Derek still mourns the loss of Lesley, way back in Week Two. "I thought she was terribly plucky for 19. A great card. I could see so much beauty in her," he said.
However he wasn't seeing any beauty in Craig. "I thought he could be a good person to win a contest like this, but I've lost faith in him. He's emotionally younger than 20. In the last week he's demonstrated this."
But he was ambivalent about Makosi. "Makosi is the person she came in being. Whether that is Makosi, I don't know. I don't know her any more now and I'm not sure I want to," he said.
Special praise was reserved for his pool partner. "Eugene is delightful. Eccentric, barmy, active, genuine. I like all those things about him."
Derek is feeling drained in the House, mostly because of his selflessness. "The emotional resources I had for myself I feel I have expended on others."
He also said he didn't see Orlaith's departure as something to celebrate, and that it came as a further blow after the loss of Kemal.
When Derek left the Diary Room he admitted to Makosi and Eugene, "It would be fun to have him around in his high heels."
Eugene tried to cheer him up, suggesting they look forward to a quiz tonight. Makosi was certainly looking forward to it.
"Me against the boys and I will still thrash them," she said.
