There have been numerous changes as to what is or isn't eligible as far as the charts are concerned over the last few years. But I can confirm that you are indeed allowed to release a single - whether you've had gender reassignment surgery or not.

On a side note, did anyone read about Nadia being introduced to the Australian BB house for two days recently? Within two hours, a fellow hm enquired about her gender, which resulted in the now bleach-blonde Nadia bursting into floods of tears. The hm concerned had no right to ask her that question, apparently. I haven't got the full article to post, as I don't buy Heat - I just read it in Tescos each week.
