Default Pete Burns.. Nice guy or bad guy?

Okay well I guess we all got a slight shock when we saw Pete Burns for the first time; the clothes he wore, his interesting lips, hair and love of fur......

There was a lot of contreversy about his fur coat which housemates believe was made from the skin of a dead monkey of some sort... Pete said he wears it because it was a gift and quotes that HE didn't acutally have the animal killed for the coat, therefore it was okay to wear it.

Despite his strange opinions about his lifestyle, do you think he is a generally nice, intelligent person??? Or do we have to wait to find out a bit more.......

OPINIONS PLEASE! This is my first post so excuse me if I do summat wrong love from steph aka Eugene Sully!

Hmmmm I have mixed thoughts about Pete - not into fur and seriously disliked his attitude towards the others when they said they were shocked at what his coat was made of.

That all said he is who he is and time will tell as to whether I like him

Pete can be catty with his remarks like saying to Rula she was "all dried up". Luckily for him most of the other housemates are quite mature and treating it in good fun and not taking it to heart. That might all change if Anne Nicole Smith moves in.

Overall Pete is a good guy and I don't think he means to offend anyone. When he questioned Barrymore over the swimming pool incident who got his back up a bit, Pete was prepared to back off the subject and apologize.

what's his appearance got to do with his personailty? and on that note the fact he wears real fur also shouldn't be judged. A gift's a gift. Anyhow he's really nice. He says things how they are and is a very down-to-Earth collected guy, hope he does well for himself.

Pete's cool and very laid back and has a nice wit, the edit fpr the show was bad to him though, it made it look like he was carping on all day and being weird.

Pete explained the coat was given to him as a gift from his boyfriend. He's already admitted to being an animal lover and doesn't condone the slaughter of endangered animals for their fur. But I agree that does make him look a bit of a hypocrite.

I don't like to see people wearing real fur - but on the whole I do like Pete. He's very intelligent and witty and is not trying to play any game I don't think. He's just being himself.

The fur has also thrown me off.

Gift or not I don't think anyone should wear fur products that come from slaughtered animals. I think it's disgusting.

But apart from that, there hasn't been a whole lot I dislike about Pete. He does get a bit catty and bitchy with the others and throws the odd punch in now and again but, overall, he's cool.

I find Pete...honest, which is more than I can say for quite a few of the others. Petes fur coat caused alot of issues and I understand that animal lovers dislike fur but he explained it was a gift and he isnt making them wear it or anything and he said he is a huge animal lover anyway. I personally dislike the way they bring up the coat, but lack bringing up other things such as anyones make up, household cleaners etc.

Unilever is on the PETA list of companies that test on animals. Products tested include cosmetics, toiletries, household cleaners, foods, food additives and chemicals. Products such as Rimmel, Dove soap, Sunsilk shampoo, persil washing up liquid....etc

I dislike the use of fur if it is done alot, for instance if someone has 5 fur coats then sure i disagree with that or croc skin shoes or something if they just have the one i think that is reasonabley ok to have but if they use it as a fashion statement all the time then its wrong. As it was a gift its not as bad as he got it himself.

I find Petes personality very good to watch, he seems very easy going and quick whitted all you need to do is look behind his face to find out he is an alright guy. He is the kind of guy that doesnt change his mind once it is made up and seems to say what he thinks which I like alot. I would of liked to have seen the group asking him if he could only wear it outside when its cold or something rather than Jodie saying everyone should ignore him which was really petty. I think in a way Pete will be more determined to wear the coat to make a point of out it so shall just have to see if the fur thing dyes down or whatnot.

I think Jodie also said they should throw his coat over the wall when he isnt wearing it or get dennis to do it which I find very ott and childish, Im sure she wouldnt like it if someone threw something of hers over the wall so she shouldnt be so cruel. For someone who has been bullied surely she should know better.

Do you just think clothing is bad or all products such as soap, make up etc?

So what if it was a gift, does not give anyone the right to justify wearing it. If I was giving it as a gift it would be burnt.

I don't really like Pete, he just comes across as a bitchy person and whether or not he realises it he say's some pretty stupid thing's that may be hurtful to the other housemates. Sometimes he come's out with some funny stuff but most of the time I cannot bare to look at him. He come's across as a very cold person to me.

I still cannot get over how anyone can spend Ł500,000 on plastic surgery, there is something clearly not right.

**from the author of this post.. VIP!**

Yes BBfernzy he does believe that cosmetic surgery is mandatory.

I don't personally agree with Pete having an ENDANGERED SPECIE wrapped around his body... there are not many animals of these left therefore they should be left to live. Same with common animals like Deer etc animals have a right to live. But I do think pete is a good guy despite that, and SMC just cos he looks different doesn't mean to say you have no choice about what to think of him and suggesting he's a freak. He's a very intelligent man.

I actually quite like Pete, he's definitely one of my faves. I really don't care about the fur, sorry Princess, I know you're a veggie, but I eat meat, wear leather shoes and love leather jackets. As far as I'm concerned, if Pete wants to wear dead monkeys, he can wear dead monkeys.
I thought the other HMs saying that they were going to lob Pete's coat over the wall/in a tree/wherever, was horribly bitchy, and quite uncalled for.

'Oh look, a gift from Pete's boyfriend, which he brought into this house, when he's probably missing his boyfriend. I know, lets chuck it over the wall!'
Throwing Pete's dead monkeys over the wall isn't going to bring them back to life, and Pete strikes me as the kind of person who would probably go out and buy three new fur coats to spite Jodie marsh et al.

I do agree that the attmept to throw the coat over the wall was immature and uncalled for... like it's gonna save the animals life!

I think he is hilarious and very bitchy. Good entertainment and the only housemate who has made me laugh so far.

But he is a mixture of both, he is good and bad.

How can Jodie Marsh even begin to be critical of his fur coat anyway? The make-up on her face alone has probably killed more animals then his bloody coat , so she just sounds stupid when she argues about it.

I've gotta say today when they were argueing during doing the shopping list, i laughed my ass off big time! The way Pete comes back with the minimum of effort and totally rips the piss is amazing. Here i'll throw in some quotes.

Pete was outraged at Jodie's boasting about the revenge she'd written about in her book. "It's low," he said.

"Well I think it's low that you wear a monkey coat," countered animal-rights supporter Jodie. "It offends me every time I see it on your back."

"That thrills me," swiped back Pete. "I get off on the fact that my coat offends someone who put her boyfriend's dirty underwear in a book. I'm thrilled. I wish I had a sable coat and a chinchilla dressing gown, and every other fur I could lay my hands on."

And then, when it all died down. He came out with this classic line.

It was up to Rula to get the group back on track. "Excuse me. But bananas are 15p each."

"Get em," said Pete. "I need bananas for my coat."

The mans a legend!

I don't necessarily agree with all of Pete's views, but I respect the guy for sticking to his guns and being himself. He obviously knows what he wants and thinks, and nobody else influences his choices.

He is also very witty, and providing good entertainment.

As for the fur issue: I view it in much the same way as other controversial issues such as 'Abortion'. I personally wouldn't have one, but I don't have an issue with someone else having one. Equally, I wouldn't wear animal fur, but I don't really mind if someone else does.

Pete made a good comment already. He reckons that everyone claims to be liberal minded and support freedom of speech, but that it only applies within what they consider "acceptable". The man has a point.
