Why not? Or will Dave be fulfilling his promise to regrow his legs by then?

Is this going to be the Tory Government's new Capability Assessment?

FGS do you even have a scooby what the capacity tests entail?

I was signed off work after an operation on my arm. I had to go to the DWP to fill in forms, but I was too affronted to when I went to the desk and the chap was an amputee.

He could work. There is nothing stopping him do a desk job, other than him preferring not to take a desk job.
Other guys in his situation would work.
Finding an employer to take him on might be another matter.

We don't know what his welfare status is. Given his sometimes aggressive attitude and the pity factor, I guess the HMs are too afraid to ask.

Depends on ignorance. I have an agoraphobic friend who can get out within a comfort range and has even volunteered work in charity shops yet is still classed as disabled as thats all she can do - comfort range. Yet I know of people who call her alsorts not believing her daily traumas

Steve will be assessed (like anyone) on their ability

Why does he need a job - he has a well deserved army pension and does volunteer work! You talk uninformed nonsense!

He doesn't need disability allowance, he has an army pension to live off, so what's the problem?

What's not to get - he doesn't get benefit - he gets an army pension to which he is fully entitled!

Steve has become an accomplished wheelchair basketball player and recently took part in a charity yacht race with other injured ex-servicemen so I don't think he's been trying to keep secret the fact that he is able to cope perfectly well. He has not attempted to deceive anyone about the extent of his disability and in fact he takes pride in how much he is able to do.

In fact his reason for going into the house was to gain recognition for injured servicemen and give them hope that they can still do whatever they put their mind to.

Who says he fets it anyway, what a nasty thread this is. I don't like Steve but its clear that for most of the day he is restricted as to what he can do, odd things he can do for a short time but sustained energy leveles will be less evident, so to do work,if he doesn't do soemthing already,he would need to be able to sustain an energy level and concentration for longer than a couple of hours evry day, from what I ahve seen he may not be able to do that so he would be eligible.Short sharp bursts of energy and interaction do not indicate that someone disabled, which he clearly is,could do any 'work' for each day for a week and thereafter. He will ahve an Army pension so its likely he will not get a greatd eal from the State, but what a thing to bring up, just be thankful you have 2 legs of your own, that you all have 2 eyes too, that you don't need a stick to support you getting around with near all the time, plus all the other mental scars that must be there at times too.Juts be grateful you have your full mobility and health ,those of you that have and realiese that it is very clear that Steve has mobility problems, that we could never know the full extent of how difficult it would be to get around and do things if we did have the problems and disabilities that Steve has.
There are indeed some very cruel people who prefer to judge others than reach out and help them, what a sad Nation the UK is coming to be in some ways.

Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance are entitlements assessed on level of disability and take no account of income or savings .....

He should therefore claim both .....

If he is entitled to claim these benefits, then he probably does already! What business is any of this of anyone on this forum! It has nothing to do with him as a hm - people are just looking for anything they can to cast aspersions on his character - out of sheer desperation and panic that he could win! Pathetic!

ARMY PENSION! What is so difficult for some of you people to understand? It's not the same as receiving benefits.

When have actual facts and the truth ever prevented anyone from starting vitriolic threads on this forum?

I wonder how the OP makes their living? Ooops sorry, is that rude and intrusive?

Not at all. I asses peoples benefits. Just been forced to give another 5 yrs to someone who has 'back pain' - she had to go to see 3 doctors before she got a certificate though. The free NHS tit job she had 2 years ago did not help at all apparently.
