Have a thread in one of these forums stating reasons every time somebody receives either a temporary or permament ban? It would give all forum members the opportunity to have their say on how moderation is conducted (not saying you're doing a bad job of it as is) and it will be good for everyone to know as opposed to having to find out via biased gossip, etc. Think of it as TiBB's Freedom of Information Act.
