Default Doctor Who S7 Discussion Thread: FIRST TRAILER!!

The new series discussion thread.

The new series of Doctor Who will begin filming on February 20, it has been confirmed.

The sci-fi drama's seventh run, expected to air on BBC One in the autumn, will see Matt Smith reprise his role as the Doctor.

Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) will exit the show midway through the series, with a new companion then joining Smith's Time Lord.

Saul Metzstein will helm the first new episodes to be filmed, the official Doctor Who site has now confirmed.

The Scottish director previously worked on 2009 BBC Four drama Micro Men starring Martin Freeman and Alexander Armstrong, and also served as second unit director on forthcoming comic adaptation Dredd featuring Karl Urban.

I've got a funny feeling River will be making her last appearance this year.

I would love it if she was a full time companion for a series. She is amazing.

Iove River, one of the best characters ever. Love the banter between her and the Doctor. Also Matt Smith is so great, didn't think I'd take to him so much after David Tennant but he's won me over completely. David T was a legend.

I'm a devoted fan. Watched as a kid, Tom Baker and his scarves Least faves are Paul McGann and Sylvester McCoy. Fave companions include Sarah Jane, Romana, Tegan and Nyssa, Rose and River.

Fave guests - Lee Evans, Kylie and Michelle Ryan.

Scariest baddies - the Weeping Angels.

Also loved Torchwood, till half the team got killed off and they ruined it.

I know but I was still hopeful she might do it, she would have been brilliant.

I'm a devoted fan of Nu-Who. Can't watch the classic stuff, it does my head in. Wobbly sets, shaky acting.

Why isn't Donna one of your fav companions

Torchwood has gone downhill drastically. I give up watching halfway through series 4.

The old series is the best, the new series is a shell of it's former self. A disservice to even call it Doctor Who
