Exclamation Banned Music Videos

I didnt write these by the way, they're from different websites

Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up 1997
Prodigy's 1997 video for "Smack My B**** Up" was banned in several countries due to nudity and depictions of drug use. The video, which was directed by Jonas Akerlund, gives the first-person perspective of someone doing drugs, going to a club, violently harassing strangers, and then shtupping a stripper.

Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl 2001
Madonna as vigilante is the theme of this 2001 clip, directed by her then husband, filmmaker Guy Ritchie. Relegated to overnight play by MTV and VH1 due to its violent content, Madonna and an elderly accomplice launch into a massive crime spree in which they blow up a gas station, kill an innocent bystander and then commit suicide, all under the influence of pills and liquor.

Bjork - Cocoon 2002
Bjork is a master at the shock tactics, but her video "Cocoon," which shows the artist totally nude with what appears to be red licorice coming out of her nipples, was banned on MTV. I know I'm supposed to be into Bjork, but she's maybe a little too out there for me. And now I feel weird about Red Vines.

Robbie Williams - Rock DJ 2000
British singer Robbie Williams' 2000 music video "Rock DJ" was banned due to the graphic nature of the guy dancing naked and then pulling off his flesh and muscles until he was a dancing skeleton. The video was censored in the U.K. and banned in the Dominican Republic with allegations of satanism. I'll admit, it is pretty gruesome to watch.

Maralyn Manson - (s)AINT 2003
Numerous Marilyn Manson music videos have been banned for excessive nudity, blood, and depicting a mess of oddities. 2003's "(s)AINT" was banned for self-mutilation, cocaine use, bondage, and blood-smearing. Even the "edited" version is too much to post here, and the only way to view the real video is to order a DVD on Manson's website

Rihanna - S&M 2011
Rihanna's steamy new video for 'S&M' has certainly proved controversial. So far it's been banned in 11 countries, MTV are considering re-editing it for daytime play and YouTube are making sure users confirm they're over 18 before watching it. The video features Rihanna sucking on a banana, simulating sex with a blow-up doll and leading celebrity blogger Perez Hilton around on a dog's lead

Duran Duran - Girls On Film 1981
A series of erotic vignettes, including suggestive pole dancing, pillow fights, sumo wrestling and one very oily massage, was more than enough to get Duran Duran’s breakthrough hit banned by the BBC, and that’s before anyone factored in full-on nudity (see the six-minute uncensored version here). Shot just weeks before the launch of MTV, the band savored the controversy, which didn’t just give them exposure, but anointed them music video pioneers.

Madonna - Like A Prayer 1989
Now regarded as groundbreaking, when “Like a Prayer” made its TV debut, the country let out a collective gasp. Using Catholic iconography to tell the story of a black man wrongly accused of murdering a child, Madonna bears witness to the injustice in the video, and is later shown kissing the Saint on the mouth. Critics of the clip insisted Madonna was locking lips with a black Jesus, and the ensuing controversy cost her a national Pepsi promotion -- the commercial only aired once – but won her the MTV Viewer’s Choice Award that year.

M.I.A. - Born Free 2010
In the YouTube era, M.I.A. carries the controversy flag with her ultra-violent video for “Born Free” (directed by Romain Gavras). Making reference to bloody rebellions like the Palestinian “Intifada” and the Irish Republican Army’s decades-long campaign, the nine-minute clip also shows S.W.A.T. teams shooting a young boy in the head, raiding an elderly couple’s bedroom mid-coitus and assaulting anyone and everyone who stands in their way. Removed temporarily by YouTube (it was later reposted with an age requirement), the war of words continued in the press, where the Sri Lanka-raised Maya found herself on the defensive.

Madonna - Erotica 1992
MTV aired Madonna’s post-“Justify My Love” video “Erotica” a total of three times, after which it pulled the sexually charged clip. Featuring cameos by Naomi Campbell, Isabella Rossellini, and Big Daddy Kane, the star is undoubtedly Madge as a masked dominatrix, in what are essentially scenes played out from her 1992 book, Sex. A more explicit version, containing full-frontal nudity, was released in Europe and Australia.

Enrique Iglasias - Sad Eyes 2000
This rarely referenced early clip directed by David Lachapelle is as hot as the Latin heartthrob himself. Playing the part of a lonely pop star named, er, Enrique, it paints a picture of life on the road that includes picking up prostitutes, calling sex chat lines, pole climbing and lots of masturbation. The steamy video was promptly shelved, but has since been rediscovered online.

Madonna - Justify My Love 1990
Never one to shy away from controversy, Madonna took MTV’s banning of her 1990 video for “Justify My Love” all the way to the bank, releasing it as the first-ever VHS video single (packaged in a plain black slip, to resemble other seedy videos). Racy even by Madonna’s standards, the video put sadomasochism, bisexuality and androgyny on full display, along with a host of explicit bedroom acts. The song did make its way onto broadcast, however, when ABC’s Nightline aired it along with a Madonna interview. Weeks later, it topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Motley Crue - Girls Girls Girls 1987
Shot at the Seventh Veil Strip Club in Hollywood, Motley Crue’s raunchy tribute to bikes, babes and booze could have just as easily been titled “Boobs Boobs Boobs.” The video lap dance came as the band had reached its commercial peak, and while it was banned by MTV – for nudity, ‘natch – it did little to thwart album sales, which eventually topped four million.

Rihanna - We Found Love 2011
Officials in France recently slapped a ban on Rihanna's controversial video, confining it to the late-night rotation. "We Found Love" joins a long list of music videos that have been banned in some form across the globe because of their touchy lyrics or depictions of drugs, sex and violence.

Lady Gaga - Alejandro 2010
This video wasn't completely banned; it was just relegated to the midnight hours on one of MTV's endless sister channels that actually play videos. The fact that MTV proper doesn't really play videos renders the video's "banned" status basically moot. This one got the censors all fired up, though, because of the usual reasons: bondage, simulated sex, religious imagery, dudes in vinyl Nazi outfits, Gaga in a vinyl nun outfit. We've been through this before, right?

Michael Jackson - Black or White
Controversy was generated concerning the last four minutes of the original music video. Jackson walks out of the studio as a black panther (perhaps in reference to The Black Panthers) and then morphs into himself.[13] Then he walks outside to perform some of his most physically complicated dance techniques, in a similar way to "Billie Jean". This part contained sexually suggestive scenes when Jackson starts to grab his crotch[12], and then zips his pants up.

Billy Idol - Hot In The City 1987
The second version (the 1987 version) was banned by MTV because it showed Idol's girlfriend Perri Lister nailed to a cross toward the end of the video.

M.I.A. - Sunshowers 2004
The video itself isn't offensive; MTV banned it when MIA refused to release a censored version of the lyrics, which allude to sociopolitical tensions in Sri Lanka. Specifically, the line "Like PLO, I don't surrendo" ticked off the censors at MTV. MIA's been known to prickle when the censors do their thing; she reportedly wasn't too happy when MTV censored the gunshots in her hit "Paper Planes," either.

Cher - If I Could Turn Back Time 1989
Cher's outfit for the original video (a fishnet body stocking under a very revealing black one-piece bathing suit) caused some controversy, and many television networks refused to show the video. In 1989 the MTV network banned the video and later played it only after 9 p.m. Cher is said to have commented while on set that originally when she agreed to wear the outfit, the sailors were not to be present. A "censored" video, including new scenes, and showing less explicitly sexual content than the previous original video was then made.

The Cocoon video.

Who else would have red strings shoot out from their nipples like that. What a freak.
