Iconic Madonna and controversial superstar Rihanna have been hailed the biggest selling female singles artists in UK chart history.

Madonna, 54, who has sold over 300 million records worldwide has topped the list however beating Rihanna and Kylie Minogue. The UK based diva has sold over 17.5 million singles in the UK since her chart debut in 1984, with her pop hit 'Holiday'.

The Official Singles Chart have released the list of the ten biggest-selling females ahead of the company’s 60th birthday next month
Rihanna is not far behind the global star, selling 11.4 million singles here in the UK. Based on these figures Rihanna could steal Madge’s crown, in this year alone the Jay Z’s apprentice has sold over 3 million records in the UK.
