Default Latest from the Abu Qatada saga...

Abu Qatada: UK agrees assistance treaty with Jordan

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22275000#TWEET733333

What a joke this whole saga is. I hope the British government can finally get this evil and dangerous man out of the country, he is basically laughing and making a mockery out of everything.

I'd like to give a big shout-out to Cherie Blair because she deserves full credit for this story. She got her old man to drag us into the European Convention on Human Rights... then she set up a company dealing with, yes - you guessed it - the Human Rights - and made herself a packet of money. And now that Act is being used to keep scum like this in the country instead of protecting law-abiding people.

From a Daily Mail parody account:

The DM Reporter

JUSTICE: British public overwhelmingly welcome the loss of their human rights in exchange for kicking cartoon villain out of the country.

Is there anyone on here who thinks we had no Human Rights in this country prior to 1998? Anyone? Anyone at all?

The person I blame for this is the totally incompetent and useless Home Secretary we have at present,
Theresa May must be the worst Home Secretary we have ever had.
Both Party's as to Govts have faults as to this man but this daft woman should have ensured she had everything right in the first place.

With her dealings with the Police among other issues and then this absolute farce with this man, I cannot for the life of me understand how she has kept her job.
She is totally hopeless.

I think the British Govt allow this man to remain in the UK as it shows that the Govt does abide by the rule of law (albeit European) however painful or embarrassing it may prove to be.

Don't be fooled if this man was really a threat he would be removed quickly and quietly under the guise of an "accident" or "suicide".

Cynical yes but increasingly western Govt's do not play by the rules when it comes to the "really bad" guys....!!!!

I think he will be deported. It can't be avoided.

He will eventually but Theresa May said she had all right and in place and that he would be away in a year, clearly she hadn't done enough for all courts or didn't bother to make sure she had anyway.
Useless waste of space she is.

Maybe it's safer to keep him in the UK where at least you know some agency is keeping an eye on him?

I'd rather send him over to you. At least you'll bang him up for the rest of his life. Or top him... I'm not bothered which.

The Prime Minister is considering withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights so that we can deport him. Good. I don't know why we need people from countries with more questionale Human Rights histories than we have, dictating who we can and can't chuck out of our own country.

I agree that the buck stops with Theresa May, but she's not a lawyer. A massive amount of work was been done by some very experienced and knowledgeable lawyers and I reckon no one was more disappointed at the outcome than those who'd worked very hard to bring about his deportation.

Can't actually argue about her being a waste of space though. She totally is.

I agree with that, she made herself look quite foolish again,(if that needed to be demonstrated by her again that is), by her statement last year as to this man.

I just feel she is out of her depth as Home Secretary,I accept it is not an easy post but she just seems to pile on problems rather than solve them.
I think someone like Michael Gove would have been a better Home Secretary.

Almost anyone would be a better Home Secretary. Why she was chosen is beyond me completely. The woman is a liability.

Hi Livia, seriously how do you yourself rate her chances of being a leader of the Conservative party, that thought really unnerves me for one.
As I said, I just feel she is way out of her depth, a lot of Home Secretary's are and I know its a big dept. she just seems unable to cope for me.

Mind you Jacqui Smith was near as bad for Labour.

I think if she becomes leader the party is damned for all time. Luckily, by the time that happens I will no longer be working for them and I won't have to try to justify it professionally.
