Big Brother 2014: Bosses want show to continue for 50 years
The maker behind Big Brother 2013 has no plans for the show to come go off air any time soon.
The reality series has been on UK telly for over a decade non stop now, with its fourteenth civilian series launching this month.
Over the past 14 years, the show has had two different houses, aired on three different channels, been hosted by three different presenters and seen a total of 30 series, including a teen, Hijack and Panto spin-off.
While ratings are far from their peak, the show continues to pull in the viewers with last winter’s Celebrity series the best to have aired on Channel 5, and there’s no plans to end it any time soon.
Endemol chief Tim Hincks told the Guardian that he hoped the format would be around for some 40 more years.
He claimed: “If it launched today it would still be a success because it is a very modern format in the way it interacts with social media and technology.
“It has always been ahead of the curve. You can watch Brazilian Big Brother in 3D.”
