Mercy was the only good song she sang. I loved that so bought the album but didn't think much of it. I don't even know where it is now.

That's cute. I hope that's true and not something she/her label said to save face because she flopped.

I think she said she quit because after the second album she'd ran out of steam. She had no more ideas and had done everything she wanted.

Tbh I respect that far more than the churning out an album every year workload that other people take on - obviously that's impressive in its own right but it's so uninspired, how personal can any of your music be if you're churning it out in a cycle of write-record-promote-tour-write-ad infinitum? I have more respect for people who take a couple of years out (or in some cases many years) to go and do something totally different, live a bit of a life and then turn those experiences into an album. More frustrating to be a fan of because you're waiting for years at a time for new material but at least it feels more personal and meaningful when you listen to it.

I had a natter with her once in her hometown (about an hour from here) in a cafe when I went on a ride out to the coast. She was lovely, really nice. Very short, though.

I hear she's making new music now?

Completely agree.

There's nothing worse than production line "musicians" .
