Well done Janette.

You can rely on me to make your life hell if I hear that you've succumbed again, and I'm sure a certain young man will let me know.

Good Luck Janette!!, I used to smoke like a chimney since I was 15, on and off, I finally gave them up Jan 96 and haven't touched one since, you can do it. The hardest part is when your out having a drink, if you can do that then there's no problem. It only takes one night out, not to have a fag with a drink if you get through that it's a hell of a confidence booster. Scoff bacon fries it helped me lol. You can do it, go for it girl!!.

You are a brave woman and I admire you enormously. I'll be rooting for you to succeed but don't be TOO hard on yourself if there is the occasional lapse.
The important thing is to understand why and then start again.

If it's what you want Janette, I really hope you do it. You've got a very determined nature and that will definitely help you get through. The very best of luck & I'll be sending you some positive vibes if it will help!!!!

I too smoked about 40 fags a day for 25 years and gave them up a good few years ago. The first two weeks are the worst. My mouth watered I wanted one so much but if you can past that, you will do it. Go for a walk when you think you can't stand it a moment longer and it will pass. We're all here for you, good luck, Janette.

Fantastic!! Good Luck Janette!

The best thing you can do for Graeme as well!

OH and I used to be smokers, and loved them. Although my sons hated it, and were thrilled when we stopped, they still started themselves at University.

However, the good news is that they have both been off the fags now for 6 weeks and counting. If they can do it, so can you.

You go girl!!!

Well done Janette - good luck.

My best friend had smoked for over twenty years then decided to give up. She put all the money she would have spent each week on fags and her and her OH went for a luxury holiday to the Caribbean on the proceeds.

Good for you Janette Good luck

Amy I'm sure when you decide the time is right I'm sure you'll make it too
but you have to be ready to do it & people shouldn't go on about it they aren't the ones who have to do it :spin 2:

Thanks for all your support guys, I knew I could count on you.

I've been to the Dr's and got a prescription for the new lozenges, apparently you just suck a lozenge when you want to smoke. I know the success rate is quite high with the lozenges so hopefully I'll get there too!

I'm actually getting quite excited by the prospect of not having to live my life round when and where I can smoke!

Actually janette, I think your last point is really valid. Once you get over the cravings you do realise how much your life was governed by smoking. It is a real pain thinking can I smoke here? Have I got enough for Fags for in the morning? Shall I go outside for a smoke even though it's freezing cold and raining?

Good Luck, old bean. I think you've gone exactly the right way about it and have a positive attitude which is the main thing, I think.

You know what Janette? I think we should make the next TIBB convention a smoke free zone in your honour. I mean even some n/s of long standing were tempted there - and there is video evidence to prove it

We are all behind you.

In true Jerry Springer spirit:

YOU GO, GIRLFRIEND!

I never started at all either. I also managed to get through University without touching narcotics I was and still am Teetotal as well.

All that junk seemed to pass me by, someone said it was because I was a bit of a loner.

could peer pressure be the answer to PPP's question
