If they return a few dozen boats, perhaps they will get the message.
Get those fences electrified at the tunnel as well.
Easy solutions but we can't be seen to be none pc can we..

'An Irish patrol vessel, LÉ Niamh, was first on the scene - and deployed rigid hull inflatable boats on each side of the stricken boat.'..I knew Niamh would be there to help...

..how many people are going to have to die before countries realise that this is not going to go away and that refuge is needed and to start to seriously talk about solutions in a positive way, rather than just 'send them back'...what will that do because it won't stop others from coming...jeez, what is this, a way of culling the world human population...

A better question is when will the governments of these septic 3rd world countries get their act together so that these people wouldn't NEED to flee??? How about putting the responsibility on the people of the countries that they are fleeing from?

"a way of culling the world human population."

No these are accidents
they lean over to one side
and the fishing boat goes over.

Smuggling gangs are making money
sometimes they die on route

Sign Of The Times

...because I guess sadly that would be waiting for an eternity for world peace and no more war torn countries and it just won't ever happen...

...then take away the power from the smugglers and take away the value of the money exchanged by making less immigrants illegal and looking into how many can be viably sustained ...and I don't believe that no more are viable when money is spent on things like flowers to make towns look pretty and other such stuff that isn't needed above shelter ...

Ask yourself why these areas are so unstable, what has happened in recent history to make those who just want to live peacefully leave?

nothing special has happened recently. africa and the middle east have been cess pools of corruption, famine, and religious violence for thousands of years.

Well isn't that just the norm, can't families thrive in the midst of corruption and religious violence? they've been doing ok in the US for long enough
I'm meaning recent military intervention.

there hasn't been any recent military intervention, in fact, actually the past few years have had the west WITHDRAW from the middle east and africa.

SO you are saying it's the LACK of military intervention in the past few years that is the problem? you want us to go BACK to war?

Hand-wringers always try to lay the blame for everything at the feet of the West when in reality, Africa and the middle east, like you say, has been a bloodbath for years... decades... centuries.

Well most fall into two categories here liv, the hand wringers and the hand washers who accept no responsibility that the UK may be in part responsible for instability in some areas.
