For £68 a month with axa (£750 if you pay in a lump sum) you get almost comprehensive coverage (barring some small print about pre existing that can take 2 years of no claims, terminal illness and certain types of diabetes may not be covered) otherwise its all covered....you get all scans (mri, blood clots, kidneys etc) within 3 to 5 days...you get access to cancer drugs that are unavailable to the nhs too
2 main thoughts occur to me 1) £750 a year for full health coverage is less than car insurance, aren't we worth more than your car? 2) how sad it is to think those without it cant access cancer drugs and many other drugs and have to wait weeks/months for 5 minute scans that can save their lives. |

I have private healthcare as part of a package from work. The NHS treated me immediately after my accident though and they were faultless. Thank God for them... they deserve better from our government and from all previous governments.

I've considered it for my kids with the way things are going. Not really that arsed for myself, I've been to the doctor once in the last 8 years. If I get something major it'll be crappy but I'm not actually all that scared of dying... whereas I am terrified of anything happening to my daughters.

Also my father-in-law's health insurance (through his work) had cover for loss of earnings, but actually paid him double his monthly salary in cash for the first 6 months after he had a heart bypass. Makes major illness seem sort of tempting...

I'm going private with my braces as my orthodontist said I don't qualify under NHS (I was bloody one point of qualifying
) It's really expensive like over one and a half grand but my mum is willing to pay for them as she agrees with me that I do need them. I've not got them yet but I've had impressions and I'm me at to be having them fitted in a couple of months.I have NHS for everything else though. |

A mix of both suits us.
NHS is ok in general where we live, but if we need to we will dip into savings for anything they can't oblige us with ![]() Had all my tats removed privately years ago, my sister had the exact same plastic surgeon do hers on the NHS....my scars are much neater. |
