Languages can be helpful if taught practically and not just enough to pass the GCSE,

but I agree. A life skills class would be really helpful

I wouldn't drop languages but they should be taught so student can converse with some confidence, I agree with RE though and English literature unless you specifically want to study it.

..I agree with you about foreign languages Cherie, I think that's a real failing in Primary schools...

...hmmm, I'm not sure about this, the concept is good..to teach skills etc..but paying them different amounts for each skill though would seem to be not a great thing for 7yr olds.../that it's all about the money as well...

..what, that they will have empty shopping trolleys or have very little if they're not doctors/pilots etc..?..what pressure at such a young age and will not make for young children to feel their own successes....

..the 'direction' is fine, it's not that different to things done in schools where there are visitors from different professions come in and do activities with the children..the 'payment' I personally think no...

..I just think if a child wants to be a police officer for instance, than that's a good thing and something of value like all jobs and no 'trade' or life skill should be discouraged ...so for a young child to think...oh, I have an empty shopping trolley and they have loads of stuff ...?...could just devalue their dreams/ambitions really...

..the concept is good though I think..it's quite expensive, it would be good for the government to get behind it and subsidise an allocation of lower fees or free places even...
