Default Sad News : Morrisons To Shut 11 Main Stores

It will be the ones that are under performing.





the CEO was just on SkyBusiness Report
he said many of the workers he may be able to
move to Depot work.

A lot of big businesses are switching philosophy in this way. For years there was a big focus on "brand awareness" where they would keep stores that were making an overall loss open just to have a market presence, subsidising them with money from more profitable branches.

In the last couple of years there seems to have been a switch to only keeping stores open if they are profitable or can at least break even and be self-sustaining. Places that make losses are quickly given the chop.

I think it's the city centre 'convenience' stores, there are 2 in Leeds as well as a supermarket, rents must be astronomical.
