This is tragic news and brings back some very vivid memories of my holiday in Tobago. This is the one island I would never return to; not because it isn't a beautiful place, it is, but because I found myself and my 18 month old son in a situation where I thought a native was going to rape and kill me. The police told me that there are a few villages that even the locals won't go near because they are considered too dangerous.

Yes its in the Daily Mail
I was going to do a thread on this.

Its tragic as they had High Walls

This has happened to 5 other rich couples

If I was there I would hire 24/7 Armed Guards
and carry a gun at all times

from Ammi's msn link.

[A British man and his wife have been
brutally murdered at their home
on the Caribbean island of Tobago.
Lawyer Richard Wheeler, 73, was
found "face down in a pool of blood
with chop wounds to both arms
and the back of the head".
A gardener found his wife,
Grace Wheeler, dead on the lawn
with a cut to her neck on
Tuesday morning, according
to a police statement.
Officers then discovered Mr Wheeler
dead inside the house in the
village of Carnbee.
His wife was a local woman who
reportedly worked as an estate agent.
A Foreign Office spokesman
said: "Following the death of
a British national in Tobago on October 20,
our staff are travelling to the island to
support family members at this difficult time.
"They will also meet senior police
officers investigating this terrible
crime after our High Commissioner
spoke with Trinidad and Tobago's Police
Commissioner earlier today."]

It sounds like a very dangerous place, especially for single women and rich couples.

The Caribbean islands are known for their violent crime particularly toward "foreigners" The police rarely do anything, and no-one is usually caught/convicted

Very True
thats why I would only live there with 24/7 armed guards
and a Gun on my belt.

So the Evil Gang can rush in but get Shot Dead fast
Pure Justice

The boat we own was built by a guy called Tony Featherstone. Her (the boat) first voyage was to St Kitts where they owned a holiday home. Tony never got to sail her home
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/1414778.stm he was murdered by a homeless stranger.

He named his boat after his wife and daughter and we keep her registered with that name because I'm sure that's what he would of wanted.

Having had a look I wouldn't say it was that bad, like here there are good and bad area and you have to be careful of belongings as a tourist.
