I noticed this forum gets a high number of multis... has admin here considered closing this section off-season to accommodate for this? I know a few that do it because their theme's base is so trollish... they only open up a few times a year and let in new members in streams so that they can screen better. I think it helps them to get more long term activity too... and prevents quick throw away accounts for petty little things.

It would also make banning a better punishment. Just wondered what people thought of the suggesting this to curb some of the major violators...

I'm not really seriously advocating for it, but it never stopped me from signing up in the past. In fact, I think I value my membership at those places more and treat it differently than I would a "throw away" account at another place I'm less frequent at...

Could help out the mods?

We don't have that many active members anyway during off season. And I don't think there's been a multi for months.

It's an interesting idea, but we had a thread a while back for suggestions to prevent multi's and I think the reason most of them were declined was because they don't want to put up restrictions for potential new members, so I'd imagine this would be looked at with the same reasoning.

Barely anyone joins as it is, why would you want to stop anyone from joining period

I figured most joins were on-season so that would be most of the real traffic

Yeah I recalled looking at that thread but I don't remember the entirety of it.

It was a thought. I don't know the logistics of implementing it here because I don't know the statistics of sign ups. I just know it has worked in some other places where they add a delay or some other fall back measure to discourage quick and dirty accounts. That's all.

Yes as Reece has just pointed out we have members that join/participate in the reality tv sections year round depending on what is showing at the time, we are also http://www.thisisxfactor.com/ not just here for BB.
