Default B Bro was fixed (press report & discussion)

THE DAILY STAR!

While all other tabloids hail the release of the 15 sailors on their front sheets. The Star has decided to run with this story:

A BIG Brother boss finally came clean last night – and admitted that the show had been fixed.

He confessed that executives secretly manipulated the hit reality TV series and tried to control contestants.

But he insisted they have learned their lesson – because the meddling blew up in their faces.

And BB chief Tim Hincks only owned up to trying to rig the very FIRST series, back in 2000, by introducing “Nasty” Nick Bateman.

A whole series of scandals has since hit the show, including claims of biased editing and secret briefings in this year’s Celebrity version.

But Endemol UK, which makes the show for Channel 4, has only admitted acting as puppetmaster once.

Bosses feared the show’s debut line-up – which included eventual winner Craig Phillips, 35, lesbian nun Anna Nolan, 36, and sexpot Melanie Hill, 32 – would be too volatile.

So they brought in City worker Bateman, 39, at the last minute, thinking he would be the man to calm things down. However, their plan backfired.

Bateman was exposed as a cheat and kicked off the show for trying to influence eviction votes.

Creative director Hincks admitted: “We did try to fix something once. In Big Brother 1, we had put together our cast of characters...and we thought we needed someone in there to calm things down.

“So we found this young guy called Nick Bateman and put him in. Of course, he went on to become Nasty Nick.”

Bateman carved a career as a TV villain, even launching a book and DVD on How To Be A Right B*st*rd.

Hincks added: “This illustrates that the whole point of the show is that you cast strong and exciting characters who write their own scripts.

“You can say millions of viewers are either stupid to watch it, or think that maybe they are on to something good.”

His comments came at a big debate about reality TV in London, attended by former contestants Jade Goody, 25, and MP George Galloway, 52.

That was just obvious. Of course they control contestants and of course they let people in they know are going to cause confrontation and trouble.

No one liked BB1 that much anyway. Its nowadays that matters.
And if that isnt fixed, whats the point moaning about what happened 8 years ago. Silly DS..

Everyone knows that the show is a 'fix'. I don't think voting figures and such like are fixed, but it's obvious that the editing is done to favour certain housemates and portray others in a bad light.

I think they didn't show Imogen's best moments. I remember when she said she was going to Australia, haha. I think it's on YouTube somewhere.

Haha, yeah. She had really entertaining moments in there, but most of it was cut out due to Nikki's popularity. I guess they wanted more of Nikki shown.

I was fine with that.

I didn't, however, like Nikki in the HND and after.

My views on the Nikki fix where, and will stay like this...

Big brother had (in my eyes) set the whole thing up for Pete to win. They got rid of Nikki because Pete made out that she was hounding him. Then when she left he was really down. Big brother feared that Pete would walk and spoil the original plan. So the decided to bring Nikki back to lift his spirits...as for Aisleyne, the whole world wanted her out, and when she faced eviction (when they was all up except Jayne) her phone lines where tampered with...

I can well imagine that picking the Housemates is a time consuming job.

Many people apply and when the final housemates are chosen, each housemate will have something different to offer.

Each one, with their own unique personality and attitude.

The team of people who make these selections will try to choose housemates which will be very different and if arguments occur, then it will create drama and excitement for viewers.

The article in the Daily Star can easily be criticised as being very wrong. But, if the article is true, then, we only have Tim's word for this, which he will get a nice fee, too, for the article, no doubt!

If Big Brother was proven as being completely fixed? I don't think that ratings would go down too much anyway.

It is more about the content of the show and the careful selection of housemates and also, the charisma of the housemates.

Quiet personalities don't usually bring the ratings up, but, the Quiet ones can, of course, Win...
