Default They don't care

This is not our Oxford, it's Oxford in America, Mississippi I think.

Probably just Christmas shopping.

There goes this hard working ladies profit margin in a few seconds because this guy needed some money but didn't want to earn it by working.

At least he told her to "shut up" when she showed her disapproval, that was nice of him.

Here's one from March of last year in Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco.

If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear a flower in your hair.

In Pelosi's San Francisco, you can even do it on bicycle.

That security guard there is paid a wage

More info needed I’m not sure what you’re trying to show / illustrate here? What does it have to do with “voting” as suggested in one of the tweets?

I wouldn’t worry about the lady’s profit margins Alf, they’re all insured against theft (which is why no one risks themselves physically to try to stop it - they’d be risking their health or life for the benefit of the insurance company).

The security guard is a bit of an odd one though. Again I understand the reasoning for not physically confronting the thief (it’s not worth getting stabbed over a few packs of crisps) however it makes me wonder why they bother having a security guard at all.

You need more information? You're not sure what I'm trying to show?

It's pretty obvious from the videos. Shoplifters.

Why do you always think it's about me? I'm just sharing how embolded shoplifters are in the news section.

I just noticed that one of the videos came along with tag lines like “this is what they voted for”, “no sympathy” etc… and I think quite understandably wondered if there’s some convoluted “there’s more shoplifting because of Biden, this wouldn’t be happening if Trump was prez” narrative here given that such things are often a focus of these threads.

I'm not responsible for that tagline, I don't even know who the poster is. I follow Ann Coulter on Twitter and she retweeted this post, so it showed up on my timeline, I was just sharing the video.

My comments on Pelosi for the San Francisco ones are true. She's supposed to be a leader in San Francisco so she needs to take responsibility for lots of this that's going on in that city, especially when she makes calls to defund the Police.

Personally I think what I said above re: insurance is the biggest part of the problem here, not lack of policing. Staff have no interest in physically stopping shoplifters because it’s not their stock and they’re not paid enough by the big faceless corps to put themselves in harms way. The companies themselves don’t care that much because the loss is covered by insurance which most of the time is mandatory anyway.

So no one has any real reason to stop the thieves… and the people doing the thieving know that… so they are emboldened. The problem is big-company-capitalism and the apathy that comes with that world.

The same thing is rife with self-checkout-shoplifting. Yes there’s an attendant who is meant to be watching, but what incentive does a skinny 20 year old on minimum wage have to confront a shoplifting junkie who might well be armed with a knife or needle? What does it matter to them if Tesco loses a tenners worth of stock? What does it matter to Tesco themselves, so long as their quarterly figures are trending upwards?

That second video looked like a little boutique that was probably that lady's own small business.
