At 9 years old should he attend. Or is he too young?

I personally feel like he is too young to fully understand the importance of the Funeral.

i think i was about 14 when i attended my first funeral and that was young enough. It was a very weird experience because smoke from the cremation came up into the chapel and I thought that was normal

I think he might attend the private ceremony, he is old enough for that, but not the public ceremonies where the scrutiny would be intense

My son was 10 when his Nana died and I gave him the option of attending. It took him about 2 seconds to say no, he knew it would be too upsetting.
George is 3 years younger than Harry was when Diana died and 5 years younger than William. We all know how harrowing it was to watch their grief play out so I agree that if he does attend it should not be under the glare of the media. From a report I read, courtiers are trying to convince William and Kate that it would be good for the public to see him but I know they will make the final decision and I'm sure they will protect him from it

I initially read that headline as 'Should Boy George attend the funeral'.
WTF. |

Yes I think he should go. I went to both my grandparents funerals when i was 10. I knew fine what it was and what was happening and you learn about life and death - no shame in death and it should be talked about by families and not hushed up as the Victorians did.

I think he may be at the private internment but he should be shielded from the rest and not used as a symbol to the public to reassure the nation and send a symbolic message https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...s-funeral.html

Remembering Kerry

No, he's only 9.
It's not like the usual crowd events and media attention. There'll be a lot of sadness and emotionally charged elements to this. A bit too much I'd say. |

I think it should be his and his parents decision. 9 is very young to be around people crying and such a sad atmosphere but if they think he is up for it then it will be a key moment as part of his story to monarch in the future.

I think it is quite possible both he and Charlotte will attend the private ceremony along with older cousins and they will be surrounded by family with no judgements from the public, I think it might be important given she was so key in their lives for them to see her being laid to rest and the fact that it is next to Great grandpa will help

I remember my first funeral for a grandparent and yes its sad and emotional but the one thing that traumatised me most was when they closed the curtains and hearing the wheels in motion as she was rolled through a small doorway.
George will see a ceremony...a grand ceremony and a great tribute to his Great grannie. I think he is old enough to deal with that. William and Kate will make the right decision...they wont allow it if they know he will find it upsetting. |

William has already spoke about how hard he found public scrutiny over him and Harry around his mothers death and how they boy didn't want to walk behind her coffin so he has the best experience and knowledge to draw upon for George

William's experience will help him and Kate make the right decision. However following your Mothers hearse at a young age is quite a different experience.. |
