Default French Minister Eleonore Caroit says the UK is like 'El Dorado' for migrants

[Ensemble Pour la Republique's MP Eleonore Caroit
speaks during a session of questions
to the government at the National Assembly,
France's lower house of parliament,
in Paris, on May 20, 2025]

[France blames Brexit for migrant crisis
as Macron MP attacks UK's
'very weak asylum policy'
which makes Britain 'El Dorado' for
illegal migration]

[Ten people have died this year alone
making the perilous trip from northern France,
and Saturday saw a daily record of 1,194 people
reaching the south coast of England.
The French stopped just 184 migrants out
of 1,378 leaving their shores,
most of them on flimsy inflatables organised
by people smugglers.
This brought the total for 2025 up to 14,811 – the
highest ever recorded in the first five months
of a year, and up 42% on this time last year.

Ms Caroit said it was 'unfair' to attack
French police for standing by as migrants
headed for Britain.

She said: 'Once the boats are in the water,
it is impossible for the French policemen
to actually intercept them.'

So it begs the question, if the French aren't doing anything and are content not to do anything, how do they justify taking the money?

The crossings will continue until we turn off the tap of free accommodation, free healthcare, free money etc.

My niece will be 17 this year and I've agreed to give her driving lessons for her birthday. Do you know how much they cost? I was shocked but I'm kind of tied into the deal now lol... I might buy her a dinghy and drive her over to Calais.

Every story like this that gets out is another bundle of votes for Reform. Sadly I worry that by the time of the next election this country will be unrecognisable.
