I don't know whether this is true, but I recieved this email from a friend yesterday and thought it was worth passing on just in case.

Dear All,

I have had notice of this:-

If you get a phone call on your mobile from any person, indicating that they are a company engineer, telling you that they are doing a check on your phone and that you must press #90 or 09# or any other number, END THE CALL IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT PRESSING ANY NUMBER. There is a fraud company on the go using a device, that once you have pressed #90 or 09#, they can access your SIM CARD and make calls from your hand phone at your expense.

Please forward this message to as many people as you can.

Another thing with my mobile is all the time I am getting these messages saying, 'URGENT, you have won £900'..,' This is the third time we have contacted you, you must claim your money, call this number...'

What do I do? I know for sure that this is a wind up but there is a part of me that wants me to call it because I might have won it?!! I know I'm the type of person that they are after, those gullable to fall for it.
What do you all reckon I should do?

I'm doing better than you Wildchild - they told me I had won £2,000. Very tempting, but I resisted. Please dont anyone tell me it was genuine.

You have to ring the number for about 10 mins to hear some c**p at about £1.50 a min. Put it this way, why from just using your phone are you going to win £900 all of a sudden. I just delete them and forget about them. Notice when you have to ring also it's not just you usual standard rate. Also notice have you ever heard anyone saying they've won from it, I haven't if it were that good to be true word would soon get round. You don't get owt for nowt as they say around here.

Talking about Scam's does anyone remember the Monkey Fish one?. Little Monkeys that were supposed to wave at you from inside your fish tank. Well that what was on the box anyway. What you got were brine shrimp eggs for more than they were worth. I remember going to my mates looking for these little waving monkeys but never saw any, just some sort of pond life in the tank we could have got for nothing with a net and an old jam jar at the local pond.

I got one of those Nigerian bank fraud e-mails sent to the e-mail address I use for TIBB.

The spammers have programs that scan thousands of web pages for valid e-mail addresses like the one in profiles.

I had the same one James

I just copy the header details and paste them in at the front of the message and send them to abuse@whatever ISP they used

Sometimes you get lucky and hear that their account has been deleted
