I know bigbrotherin posted this in the 'are todays kids and young adults sick' thread but I feel it deserves it's own thread.

A 23-year-old woman and her partner have been found guilty of murdering the woman's four-year-old daughter following a campaign of "sustained, deliberate and brutal" abuse.
Leticia Aaliyah Wright had been so badly hurt in the weeks leading up to her death her injuries were as bad as those of a major road accident victim.

Sharon Wright and Peter McKenzie-Seaton, 22, were convicted of her murder after a four-week trial at Bradford Crown Court.

Wright, wearing a zip-up black sweat shirt, stood open-eyed as the verdict was read out.

Seaton, wearing jeans and a white jumper with blue stripes, showed little response.

Paramedics found Leticia lying bruised and naked on the living room floor at their home in Almondbury Bank, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, on the night of November 18 last year.

She was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where she died of multiple injuries in the early hours of the morning.

She was covered in bruises - old and new - as well as cigarette burns and bite marks.

Doctors described the back of her head as a "boggy mass". Her scalp showed signs of infection.

Forensics officers found clumps of her hair in a wheelie bin outside the house.

Traces of her blood were left on her soiled clothes, on a pair of fur-lined handcuffs retrieved from the kitchen, and in "swipe marks" left by her hair on the living room wall.

Her body was covered from head to toe in more than 100 injuries, which police believe were inflicted in the last four weeks of her life.

Wright blamed Seaton for the injuries, accusing him of going into a rage because he did not have any cannabis.

The court heard he smoked up to £140 worth of skunk - a potent form of the drug - every week.

Seaton admitted biting Leticia but denied causing the fatal injuries.

He told the court he was never left to look after her alone.

In the months preceding the death, the little girl was seen standing as if in a "vigil" at her bedroom window.

The court heard two neighbours were so concerned that they rang social services.

Two social workers from Kirklees Council visited the house and met Leticia and her mother but days later her file was closed.

Wright and McKenzie-Seaton had denied the charges.

Thanks Freddy for reposting this, but I really think it belongs in the news section as I posted this as a debate at the end of the 'Are todays kids and young adults sick?' topic, so people can debate it there.

I think this is extremely sick also and I hope if there is a hell, the parents of this poor short-lived girl burn in it.

i hate cases like this it makes me livid my daughter died in a road accident she was 15 .i would give anything to have her back. And theirs this perfect little girl her life ahead of her in the hands of these sick indivials,how can anyone do this to a poor little girl i think the mother should be sterisled and the father castrated to stop them having anymore children.

When will social services ever learn. This echos what happend to Victoria Climbie. Following her death the every child matters was published and all social workers have to take child in need referrals seriously and carry out sustained investigations into the well being of the reported child, however this just isnt happening in this country. I dont actually blame social workers (being a qualified one myself) I blame the system that keeps social workers so bogged down in red tape and paper work. They very rarely have a chance to get out and do the field work that they became social workers to do. Which is exactly why I am no longer able to call myself a social worker as I decided not to register with the GSCC as a social worker when the new registration came in. I chose to go where the work I do is valued.

I just will never understand how people can behave in such a deliberate, cruel, heartless way. A small child like that is totally defenceless against adults who choose to inflict unknown pain and suffering on them.

People that do things like this don't just deserve to go to jail. They don't even deserve to die. They deserve to suffer from every single second of their remaining lives, in the very worst way possible, even if that's living on minimal food and sleeping in their own ****.
