Been there Dan that already

X FACTOR hopeful Daniel DeBourg has already had a multi-million pound record deal, TV Biz can reveal.

Essex-born Daniel, 25, got his big break by writing songs for R&B star Jamelia — before landing a lucrative contract in the US.

And his OWN debut single — I Need An Angel — was re-recorded by American Idol winner Ruben Studdard.

Daniel trained at London’s Royal Ballet School from the age of 11 and fronted bands in his teens.

His rough demo tapes landed in the hands of manager Dean Zepherin who was scouting talent for DreamWorks Records in the US. And the company moved swiftly to sign the youngster on a mega-bucks deal.

Daniel worked with stars including R Kelly for his debut album Tell The World, released in 2002.

The first single I Need An Angel hit the Top 30 of the US Billboard charts — and was remade by Idol winner Studdard in 2004. But Daniel’s career has stalled in the past couple of years and he is no longer under contract to DreamWorks.

Daniel was seen briefly on the first episode of the ITV1 talent hit — starring judge Simon Cowell — last Saturday.

Last night, an X Factor spokeswoman defended the decision to let Daniel go through to the late audition stages.

She said: “The rules of the competition quite clearly state that you cannot have a current record or management deal when entering the show.

“The X Factor is as much for professional singers who consider this to be their last chance in the business as people who have had no experience whatsoever.”

The finalists still have to jet off to the judges’ houses early next month before discovering who will make it to the live shows.

Default

I've heard a couple of his songs on myspace, pretty good actually and someone with a bit of a cooler vibe than you'd normally get.
