Default Pop Idol loses Marc and Brian

So another two went last night. To be honest I had never heard of the song that Brian sang even though I thought he sang it very well. I am quite pleased that Marc has gone, he was really beginning to get on my nerves - always had to be the centre of attention.

Thought Roxanne and Andy were definitely the best. Next week its Elton John songs - wonder if anyone will sing Candle in the Wind?

Did anyone read teletext last night and today?

It was saying that Brian and MARK RHODES were kicked out of last night's show!

It even said that Mark thanked his Walsall fans for their support during his stay in the show!

Someone messed up slightly there didn't they!!!!!

Is it just me or does this year's lot of Pop Idols seem rubbish compared with last year?

I didn't see this weeks, but last week the only person I really rated was Susanne, who seemed to have a distinctive style and less of a "wannabe" attitude than some of the others.

No, it's not just you, Kaph. This year's finalists are only proving how exceptionally good last year's final 10 really were.

There's no-one I can see that's a patch on especially Will, Darius, Zoe and Hayley.

Suzanne was one of my favourites too, but last Saturday she gave a very lacklustre performance. So did Sam. Andy just looks extremely constipated when he sings. I thought the only two who were better than average were Roxanne and Michelle, but they certainly weren't great.

Certainly haven't been inspired to pick up the phone and vote for any of them yet (unlike last year!!! ) VERY disappointing.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that Mark Rhodes will win this year, he is cute, talented, funny and popular!

Yeah, I thought Roxanne and Andy were best of a bad bunch on Saturday. I've never really understood why Suzanne is so highly thought of. To me, she has a very flat voice, and what is that thing she does with her left arm?

I don't think that contestants are being helped by the choice of songs and these themed weeks. It means that they might have to sing songs that don't suit them.

Apparently, seven MPs have tabled an early day motion condemning the Pop Idol judges for putting image before talent when they are talking about Kim and Michelle.

I Believe that this years bunch is better than last years

Last years was excellent but i feel this years is sooo much better x

and I don't know if anyone else has noticed as no one else i know has but does Sam remind you of a little will - he has his hair and even the way he moves when he sings is so much like will x but he is no where near as good as my hubbie xxx

Havent quite made my mind up as to whether or not this lot is better than last year. Got a feeling they are trying to put Sam into the Gareth mould, but I could be wrong and I also think there is a touch of the Alex about Susanne (ie the angst), but she is nowhere as good as Alex.

As for the rest I will rest in judgment until I hear them sing some more. Think a few are going to have trouble with Elton John songs. I too am one whose phone bill is not being affected so far this year.

Mind you Abba week was pretty bad last time.

Didn't see it but Elton John visited them this week as they are singing his songs. I've got a feeling it's going to be embarrassingly bad.

BTW Chris is supposed to be performing Candle in the Wind.

I've just been watching Pop Idol Extra and they have just been through all the song choices and Chris is singing Circle of Life.

Other song choices include:

Michelle - Your Song
Roxanne - Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word
Susanne - I guess thats why they call it the Blues
Andy - Can You Feel the Love Tonight
Sam - I Want Love

I can't remember Kim and Mark's

Wasn't he supposed to visit FA ? I think there was some argument over his demands so he didn't go to FA in the end?
I think this is what I heard???

Another MP is on his high horse about the image vs talent debate. This time with regards to Kim.

http://www.ananova.com/entertainment...sm_836469.html

I don't think that the public are voting contestants out because they don't like their image. Kim could even benefit from a sympathy vote if the judges are against her.

I think what the MPs are ignoring is that she is a pretty ordinary singer really who performs every song in a sort of club style, belting them out.

I though Kim was very, very good. I actually preferred her to Michele considerably.

The weakest left in is Sam. He suited last night's song.

Andy is a bit limited, lacks power.

Mark was fantastic, so was the first girl, whose name escapes me.

I was sorry Kim went out last night as well. Based on last nights performances I think it should have been Chris, even though I have liked him previously.

Sam is growing on me, I didn't think much of him initially but I thought he sang very well last night. Michelle I thought was excellent and sang far better than Kim, though she hasn't achieved this in previous weeks. I also liked Roxanne and Mark.

I can never quite understand why Andy is so popular, he sang reasonably well last night, but for me he doesn't have any spark and is incredibly bland.

I am becoming increasingly unsure about Susanne. She started off as my favourite by a long way, but I think the last couple of weeks have really shown off her weaknesses and that she is very limited in the kind of things she can sing well. I think she will suffer badly in the Disco round next week.

I thought Susanne was fantastic last night i really enjoyed her version it was a shame that the judges said what they said - but hey they know what they are talking about x

Kim shouldn't have gone i believe it was only because she chose a song that was not well known x I think Chris should have gone which is weird for me to say as me and mum have always supported him (but mainly because he is from just down the road) Roxanne is lacking in something she is a great singer and has a bubbly personality but there is something that i just can't put my finger on - this year is going to be hard but i'm going to stick with my favourites - Susanne and so sexy Mark xxx

Someone on Digital Spy claims to know the actual percentages from last night and has posted the following:

12,593,256 votes cast

1. - chris - 17.69%
2. - Andy - 13.79%
3. - Mark - 13.64%
4. - Sam - 13.04%
5. - Susanne - 12.97%
6. - Michelle - 11.14%
7. - Roxanne - 9.05%
8. - Kim - 8.70%

I find it hard to believe that Chris won last night, though he does have a very strong fanbase and they may have voted to save him.

I was shocked that Roxanne finished in the bottom three as she did sing very well and has been consistent with her performances. And seeing the poll results, presuming they are official, I'm even more shocked that Chris came first after what was a bad performance completely out of tune (as Simon said) and looking gormless when he met Elton John.

I am with Stu on this one. Susanne is clearly the best singer although I know she won't win Pop Idol as her voice is not suited to Pop songs. Whatever happens this girl has a record deal waiting for her when the competition is over.

And I was sorry to see Kim go. Nice girl, good voice, and gave a good performance last night.

Yup, Will Young who I backed from the start.

Oh and did I mention that I backed David to win FA, and Alex to win FA2 and Will to win Celeb FA?

Oh, and MARK will win Pop Idol 2

I can't see there being 12,593,256 votes this week really, given that the total amount of votes for the final of the first series was 8.7 million.

If the perecentages are true though it doesn't look good for the girls' chances of winning!

I thought that Susanne was the worst last night, though she was at least average, probably not as bad as Simon made out. Chris the same. Thought Kim gave a better performance than previous weeks.

Much better show than I thought it would be! Roxanne and Mark were good.
