Mel B led a world record attempt in Spice City Toronto yesterday – for the most mobile phones ringing in unison. Hundreds of Spice Girls fans flocked to the Eaton Centre in Toronto to see Mel B and join in the Virgin Mobile event.

Smashing the previous record set in 2001, when 254 people rang their mobile phones, yesterday 558 fans with phones in hand took part; all playing the Spice Girls’ debut hit Wannabe as their ringtone.

“The support the Spice Girls get from Toronto fans has always been amazing so as soon as I heard about Virgin Mobile’s record attempt I couldn’t wait to get here,” Mel B told us. “I hope everyone had a great time helping us to break the world record.”
