X-Factor winners have continued to dominate the UK Christmas charts topping both the singles and album countdowns in 2007.
As expected, this year’s winner Leon Jackson captured the singles number one with ‘When You Believe,’ while 2006 winner Leona Lewis' debut LP ‘Spirit’ held onto the album number one spot.
In a chart dominated by Christmas releases, The Pogues’ 1987 Christmas classic ‘Fairytale Of New York’ entered at number four thanks to a recent wave of publicity.
The songs lyrics were briefly censored by BBC Radio One last week until the station bowed to pressure from listeners to lift the ban.
Jackson’s number one single means that X-Factor winners have now held the Christmas number one spot for the last three years.
‘When You Believe’ sold 276,000 copies last week – five times as many as Katie Melua and the late Eva Cassidy’s duet ‘What A Wonderful World ’ which fell to number two, reports the BBC.
