Rhydian: I'm sick of camp act

X FACTOR favourite Rhydian Roberts threatened to walk out — as he thinks he is being made to look a fool.

The oddball Welsh warbler, 24, threw a strop backstage because he felt the judges were setting him up with the wrong tunes — making him look like a pantomime act.

Classically trained Rhydian, from Powys, Wales, performed gay anthem Go West by the Pet Shop Boys on Saturday.

The week before he paraded around on stage in a white fur coat and slacks singing Pink’s Get The Party Started. But Simon Cowell has now promised to let him pick his own song next week.

An X Factor source said: “Rhydian was seriously threatening to quit. He thinks he is being made to look like a fool with all the camp performances.

“The truth is, he has no control over the actual song or how it is performed, he is simply told what to do.

“His family were supposedly very upset about it too. When Simon heard that Rhydian was threatening to leave, he gave him free choice to perform whatever he wants on the Love Songs show.

“It has put a few of the other contestants’ noses out of joint because they say that Rhydian is being given special treatment as he is favourite to win.”

Rhydian caught the judges’ eye with his eccentric performing style when he auditioned in Cardiff, Wales.

The peroxide blond personal trainer has been gathering huge public support after he was criticised for being arrogant early on.

I'd love it if he walked, it would make the competition a free for all. As it is, we're going to land up with a winner who'll have one, perhaps two hit singles and will fade into obscurity, much like Steve Brookstein. He's a solo version of G4. I have no idea why people want him to win, I mean yes he can sing very well, but only in an operatic style. Opera is not going to conquer pop charts. Or at least, it shouldn't.

I think all of Rhydian's performances have been fantastic, hope he doesn't ruin it by choosing the wrong song or anything.
