Biggins wed to a woman!

JUNGLE King Christopher Biggins MARRIED a woman pal in a bid to deny he was gay, it has been revealed.

The 59-year-old panto star, who sobbed uncontrollably when he won the series, is now wed to long-term lover Neil Sinclair, 44.

But he first tied the knot with Aussie actress Beatrice Aston "because it was the done thing", a pal said.

The source added: "They met at a Bristol drama school and were as thick as thieves.

"I think Biggins always had more than an inkling he was gay but in those days society was different and he never felt coming out was an option. I'm sure they both believed it was more than a marriage of convenience — and they have stayed in touch."

The marriage lasted three years, and Beatrice went back to Australia. She now lives in Sydney's beachside suburb Clovelly.

Yesterday a woman at her apartment said she was house-sitting while the actress was working in New Zealand.

Back in Britain Chris's parents Pam, 82, and Bill, 83, revealed they heard about both of his marriages through the newspapers.

Their son, who formed a civil partnership with British Airways pilot Neil last December, told them he was gay in 1994.

Bill said: "One minute he's married to a woman, the next he's gay. What can I say? That's just our Chris."
