Out of various forums I have been a part of, it seems to me the people who spend the most time making banners, avatars and other visual imagery in their profiles are often the same people who have no intelligent thought or opinion whatsoever when it comes to what matters the most: the content of their comments.

Perhaps they are trying to draw attention to what their member profile looks like, rather than draw attention to the written arguments they write.

When I read some of these threads, I am mostly confronted with visual imagery, yet the content of the posts is rather poor (on average, 3-12 words at most, with even the longer ones containing little substance at all).

Further, some people argue that age is a factor here, and that the youth simply do not understand the points presented.

However, everyone here must at least be 13, and many are in fact much older, i.e. in their late teens/early twenties, and by this age, it is not only abysmal that people don't understand the points presented, but their outright UNWILLINGNESS to do so is beyond ridiculous.

It is one thing to say ''I don't care/understand/wat u sayin m8?????'' etc etc, yet when the facts are laid out (in a very simple manner) there seems to be almost NO inclination to participate.

I have noted that there are only a handful of people here who actually listen and take into account whatever I have said, and it is these people (you know who you are) who seem to be on the right track.

I have noticed the only topics ''worthy'' of consideration are irrelevant subjects like Britney Spears or whether or not Anthony is ''fit'' etc, and even these are met with half-hearted attempts at debate. Why, even offerring a view (factual or otherwise) is often done poorly, and I am sad to say, the future of Western society looks especially bleak if the majority fail to see the bigger picture at hand.

I would say ''discuss'' right now at the end of this post, but there seems to be little point.

Everyone has their own reason for coming and posting on TiBB. The majority of people are here because TiBB is one of the largest online Big Brother communities and people like to come here and keep up with the latest news/views/gossip. Others are here because we offer other forums for other TV shows which don't exist with the userbase TiBB has. Some people are here because they enjoy being part of a community, and some people are here to make friends and meet people with similar interests.

It's hard enforcing rules that discriminate against certain members just because their post content is low. It wouldn't work in practice by demanding people post at least X words per post either. We don't allow text speech on the forum, which in a knock on effect maybe makes people think about what they are writing more -- and we also made post counts only work in Big Brother and General Chat sections of the board. (so you don't get any post count for posting in chat and games.)

Also a lot of our members are viewing TiBB from school/college, often during break or lunch time and quickly log on to see what's going on. Often it's just no feasible for them to start digesting long posts and creating big, thoughtful answers. It's probably just a case of having a few minutes spare and writing a quick reply with their opinion.

As the forum grows, the more subjects and sub forums we cater for, and even though this is primarily a Big Brother forum, I like to think we expand out pretty well into areas our users like talking about.

I'm sorry you feel this way... if you had higher expectations of what the discussions were like on this forum - but we are trying to cater to the masses. I'd welcome any suggestions you might have, but unfortunately as I said above there isn't going to be any restriction on what people can post in terms of length.

This is a forum concerning Big Brother - The reality TV show. It is the internet. People come here to interact and for different reasons. Some come to have fun. Some come into this virtual world as a release from their everyday lives. Some may want to debate on serious and important issues too. It's a place of many different personalities.

If members are making banners etc. What harm is it doing to anyone else? It doesn't make them unintelligent as you seem to imply.

With regards to the age factor, yes, this forum does have a lot of younger members. People may not understand your points, but in admitting this, they are maybe asking you to explain your point. That shows me their willingness to learn. If they couldn't be bothered then they simply would not reply to you.

If members want to discuss Britney Spears, or whoever, in their own way, then what is the problem? They aren't hurting anybody. You seem to have issues with members who don't measure up to your standards, and you actually do come accross quite aggressive.

If this forum is not up to your standards, and you are frustrated by the quality of posting on here, I can only see one option for you.

And no, I don't expect a favourable reply to my comments from you.

Being overtly aggressive and calling people idiots is not a way to debate when you don't agree with someone, or they don't understand where you are coming from. If that seems silly to you, well......

Ron, not all of us are as intellectual as you are. Some threads require only a few words and not all of us come here to debate about serious topics. I come here to relax and have fun and just catch up with BB. I think it's kinda weird that you ask us to listen to your points, yet when we make a point based on our opinion, it is deemed wrong and your opinion is deemed better than ours.

Firstly, if you do not wish to converse with me, then why do you keep replying to my posts? That does not make sense to me.

Thirdly, the thread about tits is about birds if you care to read my post. I am an ornithologist. As you don't know anything about me, how can you make that judgement?
