First article on the new sponsors!!!
TalkTalk deal for Big Brother (Posted 29/04/2004) The Carphone Warehouse’s home phone company TalkTalk is to sponsor Channel 4’s fifth series of Big Brother, including repeats on E4, interactive TV and the Big Brother website, writes Hilary Way. The multi-million pound deal, coordinated by Mike Hellens at Matters Media and Chanenel 4’s Melanie Briggs, is the first ever television sponsorship deal for the Carphone Warehouse. Big Brother had previously been sponsored for two years by mobile phone service provider, O2, as part of their re-brand campaign. David Charlesworth, head of sponsorship at Channel 4 said: “It’s an exciting partnership for the new Big Brother. “TalkTalk is the perfect match for such talked about TV.” Launched in 2003, TalkTalk is the UK’s fastest growing phone company with 400,000 customers. Customers with a BT line can keep their existing phone number without extra equipment or pin codes. Tristia Clarke, marketing director at the Carphone Warehouse, said: “This is the next exciting step in the brand development of TalkTalk.” “The stature that Big Brother brings and its mass market appeal are an ideal platform for us to grow TalkTalk even further, and to remain the UK’s fastest growing phone company.” The show recorded over 12.8 million votes last year via text messages, phone lines, interactive TV and through the Big Brother website Article here |

These new sponsors - they don't exactly have a huge profile, do they?
And I wonder what this means for the dreaded text messages on the E4 coverage. No O2 means it could be scrapped? Or maybe they'll keep it because this is another phone company. |
