BRIT Awards 2008: The Winners

The winners of the 2008 BRIT Awards were announced last night during a star-studded ceremony at London's Earls Court.



The Arctic Monkeys were one of the evening's big winners, taking home the awards for best British Album and British Group.



American rockers the Foo Fighters followed closely in their footsteps, receiving the awards for International Album and International Group.

However, it was the recently reformed Take That who were the surprise winners of the night, after being awarded Best Single for Shine and British Live Act.



Other winners of the evening included Kate Nash - British Female Solo Artist, Kylie - International Female Solo Artist, Mark Ronson - British Male Solo Artist, Kanye West - International Male Solo Artist and Mika - British Breakthrough Act.



Young British singer Adele was awarded the Critics Choice Award while Sir Paul McCartney was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution To Music title.



Sir Paul then went on to close the show by performing five songs live, including recent single Dance Tonight and the classic Beatles' hits Hey Jude and Get Back.

I was pleased with all the winners. The only one's I wouldn't agree with were the two Take That won. Not because Take That won, I like them, I just thought other nominees were better.

Glad Kate Nash won Best Feale aswell, she is so talented and very well deserved.

Amy Winehouse's performance wasn't too bad either. I was laughing at Vic Reeeves forgetting which award he was presenting, and then Sharon calling him a pisshead. Lol.

Can't stand Kate Nash or the Artic Monkeys. I am glad the Foo Fighters won though.

Amy Winehouse made me laugh, she wasn't in tune with the music for a while, she was about two notes behind.

Every award that was won was fully deserved.

I HATE Mika, and I can't stand Take That, but I accept that they obviously deserved the awards to win them.

Seriously people, stop being bitter, calling the BRITs a joke and making digs at the winners. Get over the fact your favourites lost, there's always next year. I'm actually sick of it now. Everyone nominated was talented otherwise they wouldn't have gotten a nomination.

Same as. All the fans seem really pissed off at them(besides their own obviously). Like Take That were off their heads as well but at least they were gracious! The Arctic Monekeys were so 'whatever'. Really annoyed me. I wouldn't even had minded that TT didn't win those awards,its just that Arctic Monkeys winning that did!

The Arctic Monkeys have snubbed The BRITS in the past. Did they just go because they won last year? I like their music, but they are a bit spoilt.

They said they weren't gonna go like a week ago,maybe they knew they were gonna win.

Anyway, getting drunk doesn't make you a "p**shead"...unless you always find them drunk.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone so bitter about an awards ceremony. Seriously, she lost, you can get on with your life now.

Most awards were spot on I thought, I personally would disagree with the two Take That won, In my opinion Muse should have won best Live Act and Leona should have won the Single Award, but ah well.

^^^ The public voted for both the awards TT won,rather than some silly panel! And the Thatters can never be beaten when its come to public voting!
