Default BBUK To NOT Take BBUSA style..

Quote:
BIG BROTHER 9
Adults 16-34

It's summer - which can mean only one thing. Big Brother is back for a ninth series. After Davina McCall announces the arrival of the new residents, and the doors close, Big Brother takes control 24/7, cutting all contact from the outside world in the most famous reality show.

The new housemates will not only be at Big Brother's mercy, but each other's, as they complete tasks, bitch, backstab and try to get on, winning friends and enemies along the way.

But the power to decide who stays and who goes sits firmly with those at home. While the unexpected becomes the norm, there's one factor that remains the same and that is eviction night. Who stays and who goes is down to the viewer.

E4 will continue to be the home to Big Brother's Little Brother, Big Brother's Big Mouth and Diary Room Uncut as well as being the place to catch the live streaming and all the day-to-day drama. While online, fans can keep up-to-date with breaking news and sneaky peeks at the latest footage from inside the house.

This proves that they are not taking the usa style of housemates choosing who wins

I don't think anyone expected them to scrap the public vote. That would be suicide.

I still think they could adopt ideas from the BBUSA, such as HoH and PoV, but adapt them to make them original and more suited to our series.

Maybe so, but that's only part of the American format. You could still have HoH and PoV with a public vote. I believe they do something like that in Big Brother Brasil.

I like the idea of more competition but I don't think a complete copy of BBUSA is the way to go (with or without a public vote).

i think BBUK should take on a more australian take, even though they are similar, the Oz series have alot of little things that makes it a blast.

After every eviction, the houseguests compete in a competition (normally a quiz, but sometimes something more physical). The winner becomes Head of Household (HoH) for the next week and is automatically immune from the next eviction.

Soon after, the HoH nominates two of his/her fellow houseguests for eviction.

Then, six houseguests (the HoH, the two nominees and three other houseguests chosen by a random draw) compete for the Power of Veto (PoV). The person who wins this gets the opportunity to veto one of the Head of Household's nominations, or they can choose to keep nominations the same. If a nominee wins the Veto they are allowed to save themselves.

If the Veto winner chooses to save a houseguest from the chopping block, then the Head of Household must nominate another houseguest to take their place. The HoH cannot nominate the veto winner or the person they saved.

The two houseguests that are nominated after the Power of Veto are the final nominees for the week and will definitely face the next eviction.

This process is basically the American equivalent of our nominations.

I still think BB9 will use some of the ideas from BBUSA, I never expected the public vote to be scrapped.

I think they should keep it the way it is. Because although the american theme is good, that's America's. Where as we have our own...if that makes sense?

Well obviously we were never going to lose the public vote. I think when most people talk of BBUK taking the US format, they mean more along the lines of making the show more competitive, with more game play and perhaps even something like a HOH or POV comp.
