Default Big Brother, can it last forever?

do you think it will be one of these annual shows that goes on forever of will it soon have run its course?

you decide

Of course its not going to go on forever, another 5 yrs max I'd say. Thats being generous.

EDIT: If its anything like BB8 was this time I'll be glad to wave bye bye to it

It's been such a great success overall, even if it is axed it will almost definitely be back! I mean look at Gladiators!

I think it will go on for another 3 years but even if it does get axed i'm sure it will be back some time in the future.

ITV would probably show it, they have shown interest in buying the show before.

Big Brother HAS run its course, it is just hope that is keeping the show going. The show needs to be scrapped pretty soon to go out with its reputation up.

I wouldn't. There hasn't been a series good since CBB4. BB7 amazingly bad, CBB5, ruined, BB8 was the worst ever I only watched about half of it (10 times worse than BB4) and it ruined it so much I couldn't face watching BB:CH. It's time to put the show out of its misery.

Nothing lasts forever.

Hopefully BB9 will be able to give the show a new lease of life...

I'd give it untill 2010 maximum then I'd say 5 or 10 years later it would be back for a special, be successful and would be picked up again. Can you imagine how crazy this forum would go after 10 years of no BB and then we found out it was coming back.

Anybody who thinks this can run forever , no matter how good it is , is naive.

The only show that gets away with running forever , despite the fact that its getting worse and worse , is the simpsons.

And the soaps.

Big Brother won't last forever but I think its a show that will be able to reinvent itself time and time again so it feels fresh. Big Brother started the reality TV craze and the reality TV bubble has far from burst. BB8 was still very successful for Channel 4 so they won't let it go just yet but I think Big Brother will be axed the day the reality TV bubble does finally burst. I think its in the autumn of its life span.

I dont think they will axe it in less than 3 years, even if the show is getting about only 3 million then, they should keep it.

Only Grand Designs and a few cooking shows get 3M +, BB is the best show ratings thread for them. If they do drop it, another channel will buy the show(about 70% chance).

Obviously it won't last forever, and I wouldn't want it to. BB9 is really the make or break series, it will be the deciding factor in BB's future. If it's a great series and has a similar effect on the show's reputation as BB5 did after the disasterous BB4 then I can see it running for as far as when there's another bad series which knocks it back and brings up talk of it being axed again. Swings and roundabouts really.

I think the show as a fomat still as a lot of potential, it just seems the public has lost faith after a couple of consecutive bad series (who can blame them really). I think as longs as reality TV exists, Big Brother will exist in some form or another whether it's the show we know now or not.

Everyone knows it wont last forever but I think after bb9 or bb10 they will have a year or two break and then bring it back all new and restored.
